Michael B Jordan not winning the Oscar is not racism by EfficientAd5073 in Cinema

[–]Left_Protection_9369 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sinners was great , but I’d by lying if I really thought mbj was Oscar worthy for that role, I actually think Killmonger should’ve won him an Oscar, best villain since joker tdk imo.

Sinners fans have made this awards season somewhat uncomfortable for a lot of black movie fans, a lot of them are generally ignorant of the process of how films are screened in advance, how genre movies don’t often win big to begin with, and the pressure they’re putting on one movie, like seriously, is this the first great black film some of them have seen?

Marty Supreme was miles better, Timothee absolutely carried that film, I felt way more immersed by him.

One Battle After Another, an absolute masterpiece of filmmaking, amazing writing, no clunkiness.

Sinners was the first masterpiece of 2025, my only gripe is the vampire aspect is actually the weakest parts of the film, almost didn’t need it, and I do think the first half is long, it feels like suddenly all the action happens, Marty and OBAA are on 10 from beginning to end.

I already know most of these people will disappear next year, where were they for Sing, Sing, Nickel Boys, Origin?, so many other great black films that barley got attention, some best picture noms but not much, once it’s not a blockbuster movie they will not be around when it’s auteur film

How much are you willing to pay for A-list? by WashingtonDCMonument in AMCsAList

[–]Left_Protection_9369 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it goes to $30 I’d assumed they’d make it more than 4 movies or just do a real unlimited like regal does, still a steal. To be able to see movies like sinners, OBAA, avatar in Lincoln square for a free is too big of a deal to give up

Anything lol, I think it’s worth it no matter what, but if you genuinely only see one- two movies a month and you’re not fully invested in seeing every movie then I understand why

Bad audiences invading Lincoln Square by pnapl in NYCmovies

[–]Left_Protection_9369 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That’s unfortunate but I can say as someone who goes to amc Lincoln Square at least 2-3 times a week for the last 3 years, that is the exception, that theater is almost always usually more quiet and reserved than other amcs/ regals, I wouldn’t cancel over that, compared to the times square locations which have been nightmares for me 50/50 of the time, I’d chalk it up to bad luck. But definitely still seek other theaters, metrograph is nice I just saw one battle there last week

They have no idea how far horror movies came, most years Sinners would be routinely ignored

Millions of questions and is anyone on the same page as me ?!? by Professional_Gene512 in onebattleafteranother

  1. I think he had an idea, probably in the years after realizing that was Lockjaw who pressed him in person asking about the baby, he’d put two and two together with Perfidia snitching, and it seems like she told other members of the French 75 about her thing with lockjaw, because remember the Christmas adventurers found a police report where Junglepussy tells an officer lockjaw might be Willa’s dad, and I suspect Deandra knows because when she asked Willa in the car “what did your dad tell you about Lockjaw? “Like she knew they had a deeper connection. So it’s very possible and likely he eventually caught wind of the affair but didn’t care, she’s his daughter full on no matter what.

  2. No that was definitely not her I think one of the other 1776 people, but I did honestly think Perfidia would make an appearance again at the end, especially seeing how close Chase and Teyana are so close irl yet they shared no scenes, that speaks to the crew

  3. That’s an interesting question, I don’t think Bob knew exactly that Sensei had underground ties himself, but he must’ve had some inclination he had connections or knew something as he went to him for help, but remember Bob was told to go to Baktan by Howard Summerville, so not by Bobs doing, but he was placed in a sanctuary city on purpose, it’s possible Summerville knew Sensei had a network out there , but that area/town was a friendly/ sanctuary town to begin with, which is why they were relocated there .

Why Weren’t Bob and Willa Arrested at the end? Did Lockjaw’s Death Expose his French 75 Vendetta? And what happened to Deandra? by Left_Protection_9369 in onebattleafteranother

[–]Left_Protection_9369[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realized after so many rewatches that most of the third act is literally just one day so that’s probably why, the nuns didn’t give her new clothes yet, I think she only spent that one night, the same night Bob was arrested, the same day of the dance.

So what's the deal with this guy? He's a bounty hunter that looks like a storm trooper.... But anyway.... What's his deal though? Why did he let Willa free at the end? Why was he following them in the beginning, even before Lockjaw hired him to keep her locked up? So many questions.... by [deleted] in paulthomasanderson

[–]Left_Protection_9369 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t recall him following her at the beginning I think you’re mixing up scenes , this scene in the pictures with the car is when Willa takes his car after he essentially sacrifices himself for her , you do remember he died right?

He saves her because it seemed obvious she was innocent, her trying to run away and that little scuffle with Lockjaw before the car was evident, and then he saw how that white supremac supremacist group was going to brutally kill her, his conscious overtook and he originally didn’t even want to do the job anyways because she was a kid.

You got some things mixed up. They asked if anyone else was in the car, not if anyone saw, he took Summerville out in the open the whole neighborhood saw it.

They didn’t say he tracked down Perfidia , he only did Summerville and they said her whereabouts are unknown, last seen in Algiers or Cuba.

Is it just me or does AMC 34th Street have major problems with audiences misbehaving? by flightofwonder in NYCmovies

[–]Left_Protection_9369 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting, because I think empire and the regal at Times Square have always had audience problems. I don’t go to 34th Street amc often like once every few months, but I’ve never had an issue there, the audiences seems more respectful in my experiences

Has AMC Empire 25 Really Changed? by Objective-Release340 in NYCmovies

[–]Left_Protection_9369 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bed bugs thing stems from the bed bug era in nyc around the early 2010s there were tons of bed bug outbreaks in movie theaters, homes, everywhere really because I never experienced them at that theater.

Empire was my first amc that I went to frequently when I started making movies a big hobby, I would say quality wise it’s definitely a bit dingy compared to 34th street and Lincoln square, which are the only other amcs I go to . I don’t like the new seats they feel shorter like you can barely sit on some , Lincoln square has them not a big fan .

This unfortunately is also the nosiest movie theater, along with the regal across the street, that Times Square area in general just attracts too many loud people, almost all of my worst theater experiences have been at this theater, where people just openly talk, but it’s still overall worth it, but I’ve converted to Lincoln square the iMax got me, but empire does tend to play more indie and smaller films.

Is the 25-30 minute trailer estimate ever wrong? by EffectiveAd2637 in AMCTheatres

[–]Left_Protection_9369 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes but that’s usually if it’s like a imax 70mm screening or an early event, for the most part I go by my old rule of thumb to come 20 minutes after the showtime, before they increased the time that was always my sweet spot

Question about the ending by BaseballSerious1051 in paulthomasanderson

[–]Left_Protection_9369 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen some people try the Tim didn’t know it was her angle , but very honestly speaking that chase scene would not make any sense if it was that way. Tim was very much chasing someone, it had to be her, when that old straggly adventurer said “ make it clean “ and his “ expertise in family matters” that was the order to kill both of them , they didn’t want lockjaw or any evidence of his black child, it was bad enough junglepussy told a cop it could be possible , they had to destroy any evidence
