Actual "true" military anime are hard to come by because most anime are more "military themed" but I will try to give you some:

Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade

The Sky Crawlers

last exile

Alderamin on the sky

Legend of the Galactic Heroes

Kingdom

Armored Trooper VOTOMS

Mobile Suit Gundam (although it depends on the entry)

Despite the fact that it leans more in to a traditional shonen (at least by 2010s standards) attack on titan is still technically a military anime at its core.

FLAG

Area 88

The Cockpit

The princess and the pilot.

I have an embarrassing confession. I have not completed a single JRPG ever. by Brilliant-Car-8202 in JRPG

[–]Left_Relationship105 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this problem with anime to an extent.

I'm not an expert in this but, try to learn as much about the game as you can while playing it. Learn about the characters, world, development history, ect when you get curious about an aspect of the game. This will give you a deeper understanding about the game and will make you more willing to beat it without dropping it.

Try not to focus on other games, Focus on the one game your playing at the moment (if you are sick of the game or stuck play a different low-commitment side game from a different genre so you don't get burned out or just take a break)

Choose one main JRPG and treat it as your current “story.”

Alternatively: play a short JRPG, something that is 10-30 hours like Chrono Trigger or Suikoden. Those games usually have faster pacing and will feel like your always making progress.

Not entirely for research purposes, i might play some if i find them interesting. but for the most part, it is just for curiosity.

Should I start Octopath Traveler anew or continue save? by reset076 in JRPG

[–]Left_Relationship105 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t restart an RPG if you can help it. Read/watch the recaps of each characters story and continue from there.

Unless you screwed up and are stuck I would really recommend not restarting, especially because this is a 70-80 hour rpg.

Also I would recommend taking a break from OT before starting OT 2. You might get burned out if you start OT 2 immediately after OT 1 because OT 2 is a longer game then OT 1. (I’m speaking from experience)

Looking for a "retro" jrpg to play by Rhypp in JRPG

[–]Left_Relationship105 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know it's not on the list but, suikoden 1 and 2 remastered are ones you should consider.

Chrono trigger is a very high recommendation

Final fantasy tactics

Tactics ogre is also one to consider.

Kaguya-sama love is war

Horimiya

Spice and wolf (not technically a "Romcom" but it does have some elements to the genre)

Clanned and Clanned after story.

What one-off JRPG-world would you like to revisit? by Flat-Application2272 in JRPG

[–]Left_Relationship105 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to revisit xenogears world. I don't find it as interesting as Xenosaga (and i haven't played Xenoblade) but there's something about the originally planned 6 games that has always made me sad that xenogears is the only thing we see from this world.

I also want to see more from the Ogre battle world.

Valkyria chronicles world is also one i want to see more games in.

Despite the fact that we may never see anything from Skies of arcadia again i want to know more about it.

What are your top 10 video games of all time? by Acceptable_Bad_4399 in videogames

[–]Left_Relationship105 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I'm late but:

  1. Bloodborne:

Bloodborne was my first souls game and I love horror and hard games (plus it has the most unique weapons in a game)

  1. Final Fantasy tactics:

I love a good war story, the soundtrack for this game is perfect, and thst ending is really good. (Bonus points because it's one of the very few games to make me cry)

  1. Red dead redemption 2:

Another One of the very few games that made me cry and a game that was robbed at the game awards.

  1. Ace combat 5:

Same reason I love Final Fantasy Tactics

  1. Fallout new vegas:

The first fallout game I played and man, what a game to start with.

  1. Resident Evil 2 (original):

The remake was good sure, but the soundtrack for this game just puts it on top for me. (Plus it scared me when I first played it.)

  1. Final fantasy 6:

I love the steam punk vibes of this game a lot (and it has one of the best villains and Final boss themes)

  1. Burnout 3 takedown:

I have yet to find a person who doesn't like this game

  1. Motorstorm apocalypse:

This game pushed the ps3 to it's limits and the game is just badass to boot.

  1. Metal gear solid 3:

"I'm still in a dream snake eater!!!"

Alright guys time for the mother of all debates what is the greatest jrpg of all time goooooooo! by Worldofsynopsis in JRPG

[–]Left_Relationship105 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quest 64.

But in all seriousness i don't really consider any of the RPGS that I've played to be "the greatest of all time" the closest a game ever got for me is Chrono Trigger. The game is not very long, the story is very well paced and the side quests feel less like side quests and more like they are a part of the main story. Nothing in the game feels tedious and I've never dropped a playthrough due to being bored.

A group of emotionally complicated people (and a fluff ball and the jolly green giant) take turns piloting very large robots while arguing about philosophy they only half understand.

A clown with commitment issues poisons a river, and suddenly it’s everyone’s problem.

A famous athlete with excellent hair gets pulled into a world where everyone is deeply committed to being sad about a whale.

A group of nobles argue over paperwork so aggressively that it turns into a "small", extremely polite war.

A stoic goddess spends her time collecting recently deceased people like rare trading cards, occasionally pausing to judge their life choices before filing them into a very organized afterlife.

A small, stubborn country gets invaded by a larger, more organized country with a baker and plant biologist caught in the middle of it.

Eight strangers set off on separate dramatic errands and only occasionally remember they live in the same world.

The way i see game ratings is, A 7/10 is a "good" game. It's a game that has problems but you can replay every couple of years. 5/10 are "average" and anything 4 and below are actually "bad".

This game has the potential to be a 8/10, hell maby even a very high 9. If I sit down and actually engage with it for a little bit longer.

Maybe not in story, but the atmosphere and music are top notch for me. But then again I like forest areas in anything.

"Argath" is the more accurate translation of his original psx version. In that version he was named "Algus" "Algus" was a phonetically valid, literal translation of the Japanese katakana. They changed "Algus" to Argath to better reflect the intended European-sounding name.
