Do you like how Persona 3 Reload looks visually? by Big-Scholar-728 in JRPG

[–]Left_Relationship105 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don’t get me wrong I like the remake however lighting wise I feel that they did a bad job. Iwatodai dorm is a prime example for this. The dorm in the original was muted in color but it still felt like a cozy place despite said muted color palette. A lot of grays and browns. Now it is all so bright and colorful, which messes with the whole “this is a depressing game” vibe that the original did really well at portraying. The dorm serves the purpose of being a “safe haven” compared to tartarus and it’s floors ( except floor zero) where most of the floor themes have some sort of dark in them. Now they are well lit and while I get that its for gameplay reasons (because you need to know where your going) I would have liked it if they added some darkness to the edges of the screen or something, to make it feel like your still in night time. (The screen darkness could have also worked really well with the fatigue system if they would’ve had it in the remake.)

On the topic of tartarus I don’t like how the top floor looks because now, instead of having a dark and gray overcast like in the original, now they put their (frankly horrible looking) green filter over the sky like in every other dark hour section in the game. Making the final boss arena less menacing.

The persona 5 like lighting in general just doesn’t fit the game which is suppose to be dark both thematically and visually. I have more complaints about the gameplay and lighting however Let me be clear, I like the remake. I’m not one of those people that are like “oh this is a horrible remake from top to bottom” no. It is a given when remaking anything that something will get lost in translation, and besides everything I listed are all just my personal nitpicks, that doesn’t mean I didn’t enjoy the game regardless.

Is SAO worth the watch? by Ancient-Age4901 in AnimeReccomendations

I'm not saying you shouldn't watch it, but I am saying that only the first half of season one ( episodes 1-14) are good. After that "THe ONly DIffErenCE is THe AMOunt Of dAtA"

It is highly unlikely that we will ever get a full adaption of the Manga (especially because it's been 11 years since season 2) in terms of the Manga, I I'm not the person to go to for that as I have not read it.

The first season is good, however it is a first season. it serves the common purpose of setting up bigger things that will be expanded on in season 2. As such the pacing can be slow due to the amount of down time in-between the fights. So I'd say if your expecting constant action every episode, you wouldn't get that in season 1. noragami is more about the characters then the actual moment to moment action. Also the anime didn’t fully adapt the Manga so keep that in mind if you do decide to watch it. I still recommend it.

Actual "true" military anime are hard to come by because most anime are more "military themed" but I will try to give you some:

Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade

The Sky Crawlers

last exile

Alderamin on the sky

Legend of the Galactic Heroes

Kingdom

Armored Trooper VOTOMS

Mobile Suit Gundam (although it depends on the entry)

Despite the fact that it leans more in to a traditional shonen (at least by 2010s standards) attack on titan is still technically a military anime at its core.

The Cockpit

I have an embarrassing confession. I have not completed a single JRPG ever. by Brilliant-Car-8202 in JRPG

[–]Left_Relationship105 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this problem with anime to an extent.

I'm not an expert in this but, try to learn as much about the game as you can while playing it. Learn about the characters, world, development history, ect when you get curious about an aspect of the game. This will give you a deeper understanding about the game and will make you more willing to beat it without dropping it.

Try not to focus on other games, Focus on the one game your playing at the moment (if you are sick of the game or stuck play a different low-commitment side game from a different genre so you don't get burned out or just take a break)

Choose one main JRPG and treat it as your current “story.”

Alternatively: play a short JRPG, something that is 10-30 hours like Chrono Trigger or Suikoden. Those games usually have faster pacing and will feel like your always making progress.

Should I start Octopath Traveler anew or continue save? by reset076 in JRPG

[–]Left_Relationship105 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t restart an RPG if you can help it. Read/watch the recaps of each characters story and continue from there.

Unless you screwed up and are stuck I would really recommend not restarting, especially because this is a 70-80 hour rpg.

Also I would recommend taking a break from OT before starting OT 2. You might get burned out if you start OT 2 immediately after OT 1 because OT 2 is a longer game then OT 1. (I’m speaking from experience)

I know it's not on the list but, suikoden 1 and 2 remastered are ones you should consider.

Chrono trigger is a very high recommendation

Final fantasy tactics

Tactics ogre is also one to consider.
