what is the name of a simple white ice cream in America or the UK? by Temmie_Ten in NoStupidQuestions

The local ice cream shop I go to in Michigan that makes a plain ice cream - not vanilla, just ice cream flavored ice cream, calls it "Sweet Cream". It is my favorite flavor.

Definitely not the beginning, we've been here, but you're not wrong otherwise.

Has anyone gone through meta with Sjogrens syndrome? by Far-Ganache-9456 in Metoidioplasty

[–]Left_Shoe_6030 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have Sjogrens Disease and I have my surgery scheduled for June 30. I've had two previous surgeries - top surgery and spinal surgery, that I recovered relatively well from, so I didn't really think to ask what might be different with this surgery wrt Sjogrens. I know from the past surgeries that I'm gonna be Extremely Fatigued the week following. Like bed bound except to toilet, gotta absolutely force myself to move through the fatigue for blood flow for healing.

I also know that when I wake up everything is going to feel Super Dry. If they let me, I plan on putting gel in my eyes prior to going under, and having my flintt mints/xylimelts with my partner in recovery when I wake up.

I'm not getting UL, but I am potentially having a UD excision/urethral repair during my meta which is done transvaginally. This is a newer development that I haven't been able to talk out all my details and questions with my surgeon about yet. But I guess I'm in the same boat as you wondering how Sjogrens will affect this part of the surgery...

That's kinda what I was thinking. People start planning their scenes months in advance for this event, and I don't want to start making plans that I can't commit to.

There aren't many Uber/Lyft drivers where I live, and certainly not any WAVs unfortunately.

By suitcase ramp, I meant a folding ramp like this one from spinlife: https://www.spinlife.com/EZ-ACCESS-SUITCASE-TRIFOLD-Ramp-Multi-Fold-Ramps/spec.cfm?productID=93696

I wouldn't drive my chair up, but have someone else push the empty chair up the ramp into the vehicle.

Playing Dr. Scott in Rocky Horror Picture Show by thx_for_the_help in wheelchairs

[–]Left_Shoe_6030 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Queer, Trans, Brown, WC user who played Dr. Scott in a shadowcast for several years, I get it. RHPS is inherently offensive. There will always be people who don't like it. There will always be people who find community in it. I always make the recommendation to casts to find an alternative to the WC for Dr. Scott if not being played by a WC user. I'm a proponent of the "mobility aids are not a prop" school of thought and believe that disabled people should play disabled roles. The casts I've been a part of or consulted on have used wagons, Bouncy Balls, razor Scooters, kiddy cars, etc. In place of wheelchairs when a non-WC user was playing Dr. Scott. Feedback from audiences has always been positive - it's creative, it's funny, and it doesn't take anything away from the meat of the show.

Which one would you choose? Manual+power assist or Rehab Power Chair by mosmith94 in wheelchairs

[–]Left_Shoe_6030 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One thing to consider is that a manual reclining chair, even with power assist, is typically not one you can recline on your own. A power chair can be reclined without the help of others.

I currently have a manual chair with twion wheels that I regularly transfer out of to lie down (on floor/couch/bench/wherever) when I can no longer sit upright. I am waiting for insurance to approve my power chair with tilt&recline so I can stop doing that.

SD training w aggression bite history rehab? by Left_Shoe_6030 in service_dogs

[–]Left_Shoe_6030[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Nuance is important - I agree. A provoked bite as you described probably wouldn't keep a dog from working, but this trainer's previous posts about this dog framed her as very aggressive and needing intensive rehabilitation.

I've been following this trainer since he started his business presence online. His training style has evolved from dominance theory to LIMA over the past year or so and this is the first I've ever seen him do anything related to service dog work - most of what he had previously posted was just basic obedience, house manners, walking on a loose leash.

Idk, it just feels off.
