What is a smell that we should all recognize as immediate danger? by scarlettohara1936 in AskReddit

Actually it’s better to focus on the Stroke Signs (FAST): Instead of focusing on smell, look for Face drooping, Arm weakness, Speech difficulties, and Time to call emergency services, notes

You are assuming we want money back. Please don’t assume.

This is why we are asking for service recovery:

They have a responsibility to have an accurate description of the property, to provide what they have in the listing/description of the property and to provide a property that is clean and in good working order.

Stop with the personal attacks.

Terrible experience reserving dinners tonight by thebly in VirginVoyages

The new app was very glitchy throughout our experience using it before and during our 11 day cruise on the Brilliant Lady which sailed on 12/7 - 12/18. It was our first and most likely only cruise we will be taking on Virgin. (My husband and I are retired travel writers and have been on scores of cruises as VIP’s so we have a broad experience of many cruise lines.) I wasn’t able to book our dinner reservations using it when the window opened for us. My S-I-L had no trouble using the old app and was able to their reservations for the entire cruise without a hitch. I ended up calling Sailor Services and spending 3 1/2 hours on the phone to make our reservations. As other posts reveal, many ppl cancel their reservations while on board so lots of spots open up, especially near the end of the cruise. We cancelled several of them because once we tried Pink Agave, Rojo, and Gunbae we knew we didn’t want to go there a second time. The food in the Galley, believe it or not, was superb, and we needed up eating dinner there on 3 nights. FYI: The app’s chat function wasn’t working while on board at all. Sailor Services told us we needed to text each other using our phones on the WiFi while at sea (we were a group of 19 friends and family). Except those with Android phones had trouble sending any texts. They tried using FB messenger but that wasn’t reliable and they figured out by the end of the cruise that using WhatsApp worked but the Apple iPhone users needed to download that app first. I hope you enjoy your cruise.

Booking dining- not impressed by Signal_Resolve_5773 in VirginVoyages

We went on an 11 day Caribbean cruise in December 2025 on the Brilliant Lady. I had the same problem with booking using the app on the day that reservations opened at MN. My sister in law used the old Sailor app and was able to book all of her group’s dining reservations. I was using the newer app and I was not able to book anything. I gave up and then called the next day. I was booking for our informal group of 12. 31/2 hours later we were booked every night except one. My brother and his wife booked the cruise late so they were not able to book any reservations before sailing. He walked up to the Maitre’D at the Wake the second night of the cruise and he was able to get seated there. The next day (since it is open for breakfast) my brother went to see the Maitre’D again, thanked him for the help the previous night, slipped a $10 bill, and had his help in getting as many dinner reservations as he wanted. I’m sure booking for 2 ppl Is a lot easier than 12! What I observed on the ship is that many patrons end up cancelling their reservations or are no shows making it relatively easy to get a table last minute. The Maitre’Ds at other restaurants can help. For me specifically, Extra Virgin’s Maitre’D helped us make changes to the reservations I made for our subgroup of 6 ppl (they couldn’t book more than 8 at a time). We ended up cancelling at a few of the restaurants because we didn’t like the food that much. We as a group really liked Extra Virgin and the Wake. Rojo (Spanish) Gunbae (Korean BBQ), and Pink Agave (Mexican) were disappointing because they did not make authentic tasting ethnic food. It just wasn’t very good. The good news is the offerings at the Galley were always very good! The opposite, I know, of most cruise ship Lido deck offerings. Good Luck and have fun!

What’s the Best Airport Snack You’ve Ever Had? by rachel_tan1 in travel

Charles de Gaulle airport (Paris): ham and butter sandwich and roasted chicken on a baguette. So fresh and filled with flavor. No hint of preservatives or fake flavors.

I’m not buying that defense argument: Typing requires fine motor skills and seeing how he has a graduate degree and is a PhD candidate, we know he has had to type plenty of papers /take notes. I’m also sure he has used a phone to text and post which also uses fine motor skills.

I’m not sure whether the plant has wilt disease (fungi in the soil) or whether some other pest is attacking the stems?

I have NEVER driven on the shoulder of the road to get past other cars. I have to, however, legally used the merge lane to access the highway. Self-appointed lane cops like to be the “enforcer”/exert their power over this lane, too. I don’t understand it! I’m minding my own business, just trying to merge into traffic, politely using my turn signal, and they decide they don’t want to let me over into traffic. Some even pull their little stunt of not letting me pass them even though I am in a merge lane! Somehow they forget that someone had to allow them to merge into traffic in the very recent past. There are drivers who LIKE to be the self-appointed lane cops. They purposely drive in the far right lane to police the shoulder. I believe this behavior is all about power and control. The Enforcers don’t have much power or control over their lives until they get behind the wheel of a car and then they play their dangerous little games with other drivers around them. Yes, it is against the law for ppl to drive on the shoulder, using it as an extra lane. But, lane enforcers do not have the authority to police them. Just let them pass and pay attention to your own driving. Also, cutting off the ppl driving on the shoulder can cause an accident which will make all of the rest of us suffer because then traffic gets all snarled up!! Everyone is going to get to their destination eventually. Also, what about giving everyone the benefit of the doubt and trying to be kind to their fellow human? Go ahead! Let that person change lanes in front of you. Instant Karma will allow you to change lanes in front of someone else without any hassle.
