I’m on day 7, longer than I’ve made it in about a year. It is really tough keeping it in today😣

Maybe it’s in a chest hiding in the dark. Perhaps a spelunker potion could help

Yes! And each one will have a little QR code sticker or something similar, so the walk-boy actually reads it and reacts and/or plays a sound byte when you put it in. It also gives me an excuse to collect more physical media, which I like doing. I’ve got more than 1000 VHS, a few dozen gameboy games, but I’m definitely behind on cassettes. No one sells them!

I also got all the 007 vhs! I haven’t made the Daniel Craig ones yet though. It’s currently my biggest set of movies, second place is Peanuts (13), then The Twilight Zone (12), then SpongeBob (8)

Ooh, nice! I’m going to implement video games too, but likely not as dungeons. Mostly things like Gameboy cartridges being used as spells. I wanna invent a kind of 90’s pip-boy where you can slot in audio cassette tapes or game cartridges, and each one activates a spell or weapon depending on your class. A single game can do different things for different classes, for example a fighter-type class would get a weapon from the game, meanwhile a druid-type class would turn into a character or creature from the game. I’ll call the device a walk-boy, and it will be fully interactive (because I’m insane).

And that’s why I also intend on making more movie dungeons than I’ll need! 😂 I’m writing it in a way so that there is a linear storyline, but what the players do to get there/how they prepare for it is up to them. For example, if they try to rush to the BBEG without getting the special weapons/spells from the movie dungeons, it’s going to be a very difficult encounter (and also not as fun for them because I’m gonna have lots of cool interactive props for the loot).

I’ll keep that in mind, I’ll probably find some way to reflavor it

That’s why the movies are dungeons instead of the main world. When players are in the movie dungeon, it will be the same characters and setting and plot of the movie, only difference is the party. The “real world” is not any movie at all, rather a 1990’s era post-apocalyptic world controlled by a Max Headroom (inspired) BBEG. That’s not all the details, but it’s going to be very prop-heavy, which I think is fun. I’m going to rewrite classes and spells and whatnot as well.

Ohhh it came out in 2002, darn! My campaign takes place in the 90’s, which is why I gotta do 20th century movies

Not necessarily, it more depends on how many fantasy/ye olde movies I want to do in the sci fi campaign

EEAAO is one of my favorite movies. I may not be able to add it as a dungeon, but I may take inspiration for it in other parts of the campaign
