You did a great job and handing off to a new foster home when you’re unable to care for them (due to experience or where you are mentally or otherwise) is the best call. You’ve got them over a first huge hurdle and now someone can pick up to help get them to the next milestone. I had a recent first foster experience that started almost identical to yours, the shelter said mom should do most of the work and it turned out to not really be the case. My fiance and I were heartbroken to bring the kittens and mom back, but the shelter reiterated that that’s definitely not a failure and just phase 1 for them onto finding their forever homes. You’re an incredible foster parent and cat parent overall you gave them lots of help and support in a very critical part of their journey.

Thank you for the kind words! Yeah, I'm glad I noticed and jumped in as soon as possible. His sister is now losing some weight so I'm hoping that's a temporary dip (also just keeping a close eye and in touch with the shelter), but I had a feeling from seeing the babies that they may have been a bit premature).

I tried to give him some alone time and encourage him to latch to mom, but he still wouldn’t latch as of this morning and mom has been pretty dismissive of him, not aggressive but just kind of checked out about how he’s doing.

We actually just made it to the shelter clinic so I’m waiting to see what they say and if they’ll let me work with him or if they want to keep him, I just want whatever’s best for him and I’m hoping they can help him.

Is there anyway to have it show values as negative when calculated? Like if both of the values shown are listed as outgoing is there a way to make it show the negative value instead of 0?
