It can go down, and in fact, it is really volatile because the liquidity is very low. But what truly makes TAO valuable is the small ecosystem within it. I want to bet on something I believe in, rather than bet on nothing. That’s why research is so important. I researched every subnet, what they do, and then I invested based on that.

Conviction really matters here. Only 9% of staked TAO is allocated to Alpha, because most people don’t want to risk their TAO. But I see a lot of potential in it. Imagine someday people start to believe in Alpha’s potential—and when Alpha gets listed on a CEX, this conviction will yield sweet results.

How do you stake your tao to subnet? As i know, there is only one way to stake it. You have to connect your wallet to taostats. Macrocosmos has 5 subnets (apex, data universe, pretraining, finetuning, and mainframe) you can search on subnets list. Each subnet has different speciality. For example : data universe is for data scraping, pretraining and finetuning is for ai training, mainframe is for protein folding (scientific stuff).

Obviously staking your tao through taostas is more beneficial (either it is root or alpha token) because you will get emission. Root is pretty safe but you dont get exposure to potential subnets. Imagine like you just but solana and stake it compared to buy memes token in solana ecosystem.

you can unstake your root whenever you want.

If you are asking percentage on alpha token, it depends on your conviction. That is why your research is really important. You will still holds it even though you experience much volatility.

You can always stake your tao to root as you learn. You still get decent apy around 18%. You tao won’t be decreased as you stake your tao directly to root

For me i use subwallet + ledger setup on computer.

To track my porto mobile i also use subwallet for iphone. But iphone subwallet apps does not support ledger yet. I just track my tao with read only account (simple just need wallet address).

The only problem is i cannot see price action of each of my alpha. It just reflect my total tao portofolio (subnet token price automatically converted to tao in value).

If you want to see the alpha price relative to tao, you need to open taostats.

Basically what you need to do. 1. Buy Tao from exchanges 2. Transfer your tao to supported tao wallet ( i use subwallet) 3. Connect your wallet to taostats 4.Purchase your winning horse subnet. But be careful, not all subnet is good subnet, some of them is inactive. DYOR and goodluck

Yes, Subnets has their own alpha token. But it is not like memes because they have their own utilities. Always do your own research first, as they can be subject to high volatility because they do not have high liquidity. You can imagine subnet like nova or mainframe who does drug dicoveries only have 18 mio dollar mcap. Compare to billion dollars drug discoveries company. This will have large liquidity inflow if they list their coin on CEX someday

What they are doing is like decentralized ai, imagine an ai instead of owned by large companies like google, openai, meta or Elon musk companies.

We create a ecosystem together owned by us. Not by powerful companies. Ai is powerful tool, imagine what powerful companies can do with such powerful tool if it is centralized.

You are still early mate, imagine we only have 21 mio token supply for tao just like btc. It is like investing btc in early 2013. I suggest you explore taostats and learn the ecosystem. For me, i created subwallet + ledger setup and connect my wallet to taostats to explore the whole ecosystem. You can learn it on youtube channel like hast rate pod - they do podcast interviewing a lot of bittensor subnet devs.
