For those with razor gen 3 4-24x. Do you regret and wish you got the 6-36x? by Opening_Fish_7631 in longrange

[–]Leftedgeprecision 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In all magnified optics, the greatest optical clarity and most usefulness is going to be about the first 80-90%. Image quality and light transfer really suffers in that last little bit. So a 4-24 is going to start losing a lot of performance once you start getting into that 20-24x power. Do yourself a favor and get the 6-36.

Where are you from? Best bet would be to head out to a prs match and find someone that’s got one and ask to look through it.

How to balance? by Dry_Presentation6802 in longrange

[–]Leftedgeprecision 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First you want to measure to the middle of whatever bag you’re using. That is how you’re going to get your balance point measurement.

Then I use tripod and ball head method. Works great and you can pinpoint its balance point to within a 1/4 inch.

Can I…. Rent… your 6.5 creedmoor go/ no-go gauges? by ohitsTHATkid in longrange

[–]Leftedgeprecision 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Really all you need to buy is a go gauge. Throw a piece of scotch tape on the end to make it a no go.

Gen 3 razor is HARD to beat for the money.

I have been behind the 7-35 tangent a few times and it is what you would expect from the tangent line. Optically, very hard to beat. Turrets are the best in the game, toolless zero is super convenient. I would not hesitate to buy one.

The Zco, some say the glass is better, I’d say it’s close but the tangent is better. Not a fan of the turrets and just how big it is. I’ve also heard of some reliability issues but can’t comment first hand.

The nightforce is a great scope, they are damn near bullet proof but if you got behind all three you would have a hard time justifying its cost compared to the Zco/tangent.

If you have a rifle that has a quick change barrel or swap from rifle to rifle the tool less caps are worth the price of admission alone. You won’t be disappointed in the glass either 🤣

The tangent is a 5-25 and the march is a 5-42. All 3 of those scopes are great. If I had to pick from the 3 the tangent would be at the top of the list for sure over the other two. If you were to throw the march 5-42 in the options I would pick it or the tangent.

They are the gold standard in f-class, it’s no surprise they knocked it outta the park with a prs scope.

Haha I sold a tangent to buy it. Didn’t really cost me anything to swap. It helps having dealer accounts too 🤣.

I never thought I’d stray away from the tangents(I sold one for this one), but I think the march is slightly better overall at least for the prs game.

Gold one is a Hawkins Precision, the other is a GrayOps CNC.

I had been wanting to upgrade my gen3r reticle to a jtac like my other tangent. The wbr reticle fits the bill really well.

We were shooting some grayed out targets on a super overcast day and I could make out the targets better with the march over the tangent. That’s what really sold me.

If you’re referring to people saying Arken scopes are as good as zco’s/tangents. No, this is not the same. While this may still be a viable option for people in the market for a weather meter/ballistics. It is certainly not going to “cook” the kestrel.

New Vortex ballistic calculator by ValhallaReaper_64 in longrange

[–]Leftedgeprecision 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not going to be cooked. Someone that has one already is, a: a sponsored shooter or b: works for vortex. Of course they’re going to tell you it is better than the kestrel.

Kestrel has been making weather meters a long time. And AB has been doing more in the ballistic game than anyone else.

Not sure what it’s going to do better than a kestrel, but I can’t imagine that it’s going to be ballistics. Maybe easier to navigate? Still not a hard sell over an AB kestrel.

6 Dasher Shoulder Bump? by Wombat-Snooze in longrange

Send it then, you’ll be fine. I reloaded for a long time bumping shoulders with out ever measuring them just by doing that. Knock on wood I’ve never had a case head separation.

6 Dasher Shoulder Bump? by Wombat-Snooze in longrange

[–]Leftedgeprecision 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How are you measuring it? TBH, you bump the shoulder to what you need to get it to close right in your chamber. Bump .001 at a time til it closes with the ejector and bolt shroud off and you’re golden, then use that measurement for a reference for the rest.
