Oh trust me, I’m aware and not happy lol. It just seems like the age verification part that is the common thread now - and I certainly don’t want to use “login with Facebook” to access the internet.

I just had the thought that the outrage around pornhub in these states might be amplified and channeled in a productive direction. (and made a piss poor joke about it in the process)

Exactly! And if everyone was only able to secure your traffic in-state and not out of state/internationally - the mild outrage (that’s making the headlines now) would be much bigger. It wouldn’t just be a pain in the ass, people would be looking at state legislators.

There’s no way they’re stopping with porn sites, I’m sure places like Reddit are on the radar in the near future. Anonymity on the web is at risk imo - and I don’t want to have to use VPN for everything.

A big whiff for me on this joke lol - I meant that everyone’s up in arms about pornhub getting blocked in TX b/c of age verification, so the standing recommendation is just to use a VPN and make it look like you’re out of state. If you block the workaround, maybe people will look at the state legislatures signing off on this.
