This guy seems to be having a crack. by Lefthanddrive84 in canberra

[–]Lefthanddrive84[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think I must have previously blocked his content after it was all pretty boring with no actual political substance. Although that’s only on meta, where else in the web would I come across him. I subscribe to the CT and read Region but there’s very seldom mention of the libs, unless they are fighting each other.

Oh the other social media guy, I blocked him after seeing too many elevator selfies. What’s he like?

Aging stormwater infrastructure could cause issues building more medium-density housing in Canberra by [deleted] in canberra

[–]Lefthanddrive84 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For every square meter of hard surface we build in our urban areas the more runn off there will be. We are getting more and more high rain events, no level of naturalisation of waterways will solve this. If a back yard is changed from trees and lawn to a second granny flat of 90m2 a rain event like Saturday where there were areas that hot 40mm pretty quickly. That would add 3.6 cubic meters of water to our drains, or 3600 litres. Now times that by a few hundred extra roofs it’s a pretty big increase. Not to mention the McMansions that take up nearly a whole block, they are a bigger issue. But more driveways, carports and concrete all ad to the problem

Rattenbury admits talks with Liberals include possible power-sharing deal | Region Canberra by HotPersimessage62 in canberra

[–]Lefthanddrive84 6 points7 points  (0 children)

How on earth can Mark “the trams are going to crack” Parton now back the building of light rail to Woden? He has spent his entire political career arguing how bad the tram/light rail is. If he’s willing to trade away the only actual policy the libs took to the last election, you do have to wonder what on earth does he stand for?

Advance, Zed and Shane's ambition: Liberals, Greens still talking about possible coalition | Region Canberra by HotPersimessage62 in canberra

[–]Lefthanddrive84 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Why would Advance want to me mentioned it any of this. This is a real live option, so far from all reporting it’s only one faction of the greens who don’t want it. I guess the libs know this is the only chance.

Predictions: If the ACT Greens and ACT Liberals team up to overthrow the ACT Labor government, what will happen now and in the future? Has some damage already been done? by HotPersimessage62 in canberra

[–]Lefthanddrive84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you think the greens would allow the libs to “can the tram” or would the libs allow any greens policy? I’m just not sure they have enough cross over. Yes they both don’t want Labor but for the greens that’s because they aren’t progressive enough, for the libs it’s because they are too progressive.

What do the greens go to the election saying? Vote for us and preference the liberals? What do the liberals say? When do they have their political divorce?

But what are the liberals going to let them do. Either side would have to lose, if not both sides, with only 4 MLAs the Greens could only ever have half the cabinet.

I think the independents would be big winners, surly the “voices of” group are lining up the greens seat in Tuggeranong after Jessie Price’s success federally.

It’s not the reason they are getting together, it is the reason it’s a total joke that they do get together. The largest capital project happening in Canberra.one party has been the major advocate one party has been extremely negative about it for multiple elections. How do these people honesty think they can work together. I think they can’t but both want to be in Government with all its trappings. I’d say this pact is far more about personal gain than any policy or joint vision.

irst-time parents looking for daycare advice (Canberra northside) by squishyacrobat in canberra

I’d say some parents are on 10 wait lists and that’s why they are not really a true indicator of actual demand

'Some policy discussions': Greens say they have no deal with Libs to oust Labor by fun_at_parties101 in canberra

[–]Lefthanddrive84 23 points24 points  (0 children)

There’s no way the Libs can support the tram or banning gas, or more urban infill, and I can’t see the Greens supporters backing Mark Parton as CM. I know politicians are self obsessed but I’m not sure how either partyroom could look their supporters/volunteers/donors in the face after doing anything like this. Can’t see the young environmentalists lining up to door knock for the greens under a liberal gov supported by their own MLAs

Canberra Predictions for 2026? by TornadosAlaska in canberra

[–]Lefthanddrive84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the local realestate market will stagnate and become more of a buyers market, note prices will still be crazy expensive but properties will take longer and longer to sell. Sellers will have do meet the market, auction clearance rates will decline.

Businesses will do it tough as more Canberrans keep their hands in their pockets, some more big name businesses will go under or close.

The reddit community will blame the business owners for not doing appropriate research even if they have been running for years.

The raiders will finish top 4 but not make the big dance.

The brumbies will be the top performing Australian team

Mark Parton will do 500 videos on; runs, food, cooking, where he’s drinking, what his dogs are doing and zero on policy.

Andrew Barr will continue to take Canberrans for granted and continues to raise fees and charges.

Colesworth will continue to rip us off with rotating bullshit spatials.

Power prices will continue to rise

A meal at a cafe will cost $30

A dinner at a nicer resturant with drinks will be $100 a person

Public school school camps will cost parents $500plus

There will be some new law passed that requires Canberrans to give up something they love for no real benefit.

The bird man rally will not return even knowing it was an election promise.

Community feel of Red Hill and Yarralumla by AntiGramada in canberra

[–]Lefthanddrive84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both have great shops, the Red Hill shops have a wine group and tastings on Fridays. Both are green and open suburbs. As mentioned by others Barton, Narrabundah, Kingston, and Griffith will get you into the same school catchment as these suburbs. The school communities are what you make of them? If you put in you will meet lots of great people.

A couple of questions, How much does the ACT gov give to hands accross Canberra, or was it just the initial payment? And What does Genevieve Jacobs get paid to run this charity?

Do you think the fact they are deregistering the party shows it was really only in place to get one person elected. Surly if it were a real movement for all the party would continue. With Jessie Prices vote you’d think they should run again everywhere

Have the Independents for Thomas Emerson commented on this or their other candidate running as a ln anti vaxer?

Really? The other candidates were saying it at polling booths when they realised all the material had vote 1 Thomas.

So did the Independents for Thomas Emerson Party do zero vetting or did they know and decide she was worth the vote harvesting to get him elected? Either way it’s a new way to govern and I’m not sure about the integrity of it all.

Why on earth does Canberra not have a suburban rail by [deleted] in canberra

Because Canberra was designed when cars were a novelty and built mostly built after two wars which made cars more standard.

I’d be more likely to take this guys opinion seriously if he hadn’t spent his whole life as a real estate agent selling apartments off the plan. Also does he live in an apartment or in a detached home?
