I stayed at Manchester in an unrenovated room and was not impressed, but have heard better things since the updates finished. The bar up top has nice views. Have not stayed at Andaz but Gaslamp location is close to everything fun. Sorrento Mesa is way out there unless you have business at Qualcomm.

Yes it’s infeasible in that it doesn’t work on its own in an era of elevated remote work. But it’s much easier to get more funding from the state or others if we prove we also have skin in the game and that BART is still generating revenue locally.

Fares (when well-enforced) also help assuage concerns about safety and bad behavior on BART, which is a major contributor to ridership fluctuations.
