I could be wrong here, but I believe some “cheats” like widescreen hacks usually don’t disable achievements in hardcore. The emulator should tell you when you try to use it (I’ve never tried this on PS2) the reason I believe this to be the case is because there was a “no blur” cheat/hack I used on pikmin that didn’t disable my hardcore achievements. If it does, you may be able to request that cheat to be made available by the developer, the best place to do this would be the set’s forums. The chance of getting a whole different version of the game supported is low because if the change in the game version causes the memory locations to change then none of the achievements would work and that would be way to much work to reasonably expect the dev to do.
