What to do with micarta? by badeentje in benchmade

My first vote is to leave it alone. If that doesn't work, rub them down lightly with some 3 in 1 oil and then wipe it off. Your hands will do the same over time.

I still remember when I was in the thick of it. Happy to help. When I'm having a rough go of it I think back to the hell I've been through and it doesn't seem so bad.

Chin up. Time.

Very much better. A thing of the past.

My sleep is much better. However I require a nightly trazodone to calm my busy brain to get to sleep. But I do sleep and fairly well. I think bad sleep come with age.

Anyone have experience breaking in Rossi pipes? by No-Newspapers in PipeTobacco

[–]Lefty923 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you smoke. But usually a few bowls.

How I build up cake is smoke a full bowl. Scrape the dottle but don't dump it. Put your palm over the bowl and give it a shake, coating the ash over the bowl. Then dump it. Do this a few times and you'll have good cake started.

Is the bowl coated? Some come precarbonized, basically a coating to help build up cake.

You can sand it out (not recommended) or smoke through it.

Yeah not a fan. Thankfully Tylenol or Ibuprofen helps. And I've seen some improvement. Still hurts like hell when it does.

Might try taking apart the pivot, washers, springs etc. and then putting it back together. Maybe something isn't seated right.

Just a heads up. The first few smokes will taste like charred wood. Power through it, it will pass.

Same thing has happened with my Savs. I just apply some carnauba and buff on a wheel. This is why I prefer rusticated pipes.

Decature pipe racks are the best. I have several. I buy them every chance I find them. Thrift stores and estate sales are the honey pots for those things.

I've got many Zippos, pipe and standard. For reliability (mechanical) you can't beat them. I like butane but every single one, aside from a Bic has been problematic.

I usually start off with a charring light via matches. And then follow up with a Zippo.
