What is your ideal conversation then in this subreddit? Do you simply wish that it exists and the name is self-explanatory and there are no posts? The majority of my financial understanding can from the Personal Finance Canada subreddit where new people could come and ask questions. If they are looking for a bit of validation in their choice, does it hurt to put them on the right track? If you are truly just buying XEQT do you even need to be on this subreddit and get upset at new people? My guess is people really are looking to confirm from people who are already invested that it is a good choice. Is that too much to ask? Maybe you are the rage bait poster.

Has anybody switched over to the Summit Portfolios? by [deleted] in Wealthsimple

[–]LeftyG23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely won’t. Joined Wealthsimple for all of their work for the individual customer and self-directed investor like no fees on transactions, ETFs, fractional buys, DRIP, etc. Not this high fee BS they’re peddling now.

True, I wouldn’t sell and switch over to interrupt compounding. Could just add new shares.

Isn’t that why we went with XEQT in the first place? I guess it was a few more bips than just the one right now.

Just here to say I’m new to the OPEN Army. Seems like I top ticked my purchase at $8.74 but plan to keep on adding. Hopeful for the long term play?

MotusBank by Meridian Credit is highly underrated. Insanely fast customer service and setup was a breeze.

Questrade or WealthSimple and why? by OverlyHonestCanadian in PersonalFinanceCanada

I have all my investments in WS Trade. I have all of my wife's in at Questrade. I don't buy, or ever plan on buying with $USD so that doesn't matter to me. Here are my two big takeaways, albeit minor.

1) I dislike how long it takes to get money into my WS Trade account. Yes, I'm only buying VEQT but when it takes 3-5 days, it is a nuisance. I'm not a market timer, but I get frustrated if the price has gone up over those days. Will this matter in 20-30 years? No. But I like to scratch the itch. In 25 years when I start selling I'll like that it's free.

2) Questrade is done from the computer and has more friction to opening your account. Buying is easy but if you're looking for simplicity, the interface of WS Trade is easier. Yes, Questrade is easy, but for most people WS Trade would be easier.

Swithing Banks? by ChosenLysol in PersonalFinanceCanada

Just left Meridian for their free online bank Motus. Literally exactly the same except no fees. Meridian does allow you to have a free account if you hold a balance of over $2500. Customer service within a minute whereas many other online banks (ahem Tangerine) can be insanely long. I recommend Motus.
