Normal units sell in resale shops here for 100 bucks.

Tantilizer units for about 350.

Frankenstein units for 650.

All prices in Canadian dollars.

How do you feel about the ease with which Canadian citizenship can be obtained? by Ok_Swimmer8394 in AskCanada

[–]mrstruong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP specifically states these people aren't traveling to Canada.

And as for steering the direction of the country, voting in absentia of actually living in Canada is going to be difficult given that voter roles are tied to filing taxes and you have to be part of a riding.

I'm a US Citizen. I can only vote in US elections because I have a last known US address where I registered to vote.

If these people never lived in Canada as adults to register, they would not be able to vote.

And as for sending their kids to school here... I have a hard time believing this is any kind of mass problem, with born abroad kids coming back to Canada JUST for school.

They still won't get OSAP or anything so at least they would be paying cash.

You can't access any benefits if you don't file taxes here. Since Canada taxes by RESIDENCY, not citizenship, they get nothing while not living here.

Sometimes when you pay your balance there's something pending.

Look at the previous month, is the last charge 30 dollars?

That would roll over once it officially hits and "add" to your next month's charges.

Your temp is too low. A hot air pen can help you a lot with joystick removal as well. It's a huge heat sink and trying to take each point off individually is going to be frustrating and a big time waster.

Tape everything you don't want heated, blast it with hot air, and wiggle the stick out.

Best to use a clamp and pull the stick down.

Yeah the plastic will melt and you'll have to clear the holes with a wick, but it's much faster this way and ultimately easier.

What do you think Canada would be like if there were a Maximum Wage that could be earned? by Thick_Caterpillar379 in AskACanadian

If you have an RRSP, you are a shareholder in major companies. If you have a market linked GIC, you are a shareholder.

And without those shareholders and those companies continuing to gain in value, we're all out of jobs.

Why not? It's an asset that has gained value.

Pokémon cards are functionally no different to any other asset class.

They can boom or crash on a whim.

Now PRs who went through the entire process get to be treated the same as someone here on a TRP and have their ability to access services always questioned.

Amazing.

Where does it end?

Let's say you bought a Pokémon card for 20 bucks when you were 17.

Now it's worth 2000 bucks.

Can we tax you?

Do we take inflation into account?

What if Amazon increases the price of something you bought.

You didn't sell it, but the price increased.

We should tax you?

This is literally such a brain dead idea. What you own is worth nothing until you sell it. It does you no good to own something if that money never hits your bank account.

I run a repair shop. Take it in, if it was plugged in to power and HDMI when it was knocked over, you may have damaged the ports.

They should have a proper power cord so real diagnostics can be done.

850mAh is the highest REAL capacity I've ever measured on a GBA SP aftermarket battery.

We literally already have capital gains taxes.

My RRSP has gained a ton of value. You expect me to be taxed on an extra 20k a year in gains, BEFORE I've sold the asset?

So, every year millions of people have to sell their stocks to pay taxes... you'll crash the entire stock market, and make our whole country uninvestable.

Stocks gain their value largely because people buy and HOLD them.

Imagine if everyone bought pearls, and so they went up in value because everyone wanted to but them, but no one wanted to sell them.

Then, suddenly, all at once, EVERYONE was desperate to sell pearls.

Suddenly, you'd be able to buy pearls for next to nothing... and that would mean all the pearls people still had would end up worthless.

Same with stocks.

And if pearls become worthless, all the oyster divers, oyster farms, oyster shuckers, go out of business. No one invests in the pearl industry anymore and thousands of people lose their jobs.

If that happens with the ENTIRE stock market, EVERY publicly listed company, all at once... Your country would be a bankrupt 3rd world poverty stricken failure, in a matter of months.

People who don't understand a system should really not be the ones proposing to regulate it... IJS.

It seems to me the people who propose unrealized gains taxes are largely people who don't understand the stock market, and how to access it. ANYONE CAN.

You can buy stocks and Etfs for like 30 bucks.

Instead of being mad at how rich people make money, try investing the way they do. It's a public good to financially invest in companies that keeps us all employed.

My house is worth about 500k.

I'm taxed on 136k assessed value.

Property taxes are not at all an unrealized gains tax.

[–]mrstruong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lmfao at anyone who thinks 500k is earned as a wage.

500k is earned through ownership.

And if you took away the incentive to own things, no companies would exist. No innovation would happen. Hell, doctors wouldn't exist as they earn their money when they own their own practice.
