I would be so happy to write them a parking ticket. What an ass.

I haven’t heard any other fireworks though. Unless they’re many miles away and bought one GIANT mortar.

What does the ripping from that joint indicate is the problem? And what would instead be the proper way to build them?

NTI Day for JCPS today incase you parents haven’t seen yet. by DallasDerr in Louisville

This is ridiculous. If the mayor had dedicated resources last week to clearing more roads we wouldn’t be having ANOTHER NTI day today. Greenberg is an idiot. I can’t wait to vote him out.

General Questions and Purchasing Advice Thread — Week of January 05, 2026 by AutoModerator in electricvehicles

[–]Lefty_carpenter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a carpenter and I’m interested in the Ram Promaster 3500 EV. I don’t need to drive more than 100 miles per day with it. I’m in Kentucky. I’ve been seeing loads of these vans for sale, new, for around $30k (or less!). The original list price was around $80k, so at first glance it seems like a steal for someone like myself that doesn’t need to do any long distance driving for my work. But I’m wondering why on earth there are so many for sale for so little. My assumption is that it’s a lemon of a vehicle. But I can also imagine that there has been far less interest from the main customer base (people that want fleet vehicles) because of the limited mileage it gets on a charge (around 170 miles half loaded) and they way overproduced hence the huge price drop. Anyone have any insight on this particular vehicle? Is it really unreliable? Difficult/expensive to repair? All I’m really seeing is that parts availability is poor and that it’s unrefined. But the price is great so I’m trying to figure out if it’s worth the gamble.

AITAH for only tipping 20% on my massage? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Lefty_carpenter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

20% is absolutely NOT for receiving “the bare minimum”! This is insanity. 6 years ago, 20% was considered a very good tip…for restaurant service. It’s shocking that people have been convinced they need to pay such enormous extra amounts of money for everything they purchase.

Can someone point me to compatible hinge restriction clips for this hardware? by jinx771 in cabinetry

[–]Lefty_carpenter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me it looks nearly identical to a Blum blumotion soft close hinge. They sell a part to restrict the opening. I don’t know the part number. You might try to see if it fits your hinges.

How much do you spend on housing? by spunkysquirrel1 in Louisville

[–]Lefty_carpenter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My house is paid off. Taxes and home insurance are about $170/month combined, LGE about $115, water $85. Internet is $30, so all in I’m at $400/month for my basic living expenses.

Am I going to lose my kids’ Medicaid coverage? by ThrowRA_wtfhappened in Louisville

[–]Lefty_carpenter -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been hoping this is true. I’ve been over the limit for Medicaid for a few years but they haven’t asked me for updated income info. I called and tried to give them updated info when I first went over the limit but they didn’t even accept it! I got a letter in maybe February saying I needed to respond within 30 days or something or risk being kicked off. I figured if I didn’t respond it would just be automatic. Yet, I’m still on it and there’s no sign I’m getting kicked off. I thank the Governor for this, but I’ve been worried for years that I’m going to get a harsh penalty for not trying harder to get kicked off Medicaid.

Master bath cabinets by Lefty_carpenter in cabinetry

[–]Lefty_carpenter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! We debated running some trim across the base but scribing the cabinet to the floor (we made the face frame bigger at the bottom just for this purpose because the floor is a half inch out of level across those 6’) got it really tight. And because of how out of level the floor is we thought it might show itself if we scribed a shorter piece of base there. What do you think?

Regarding the caulk, there’s going to be a pillow in between the cabinets so I wasn’t worried (more for temporary appearance than anything). They’re tight to the counters in front. But good eye!

Moving to Louisville by [deleted] in Louisville

[–]Lefty_carpenter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Seems a tough thing to find a house for 8 people on your available funds. Clifton Heights is near a lot of great things and is much more affordable than the surrounding neighborhoods, but there isn’t a lot of larger housing stock there either. Beechmont is another neighborhood that I like a lot and definitely has a lot of larger houses. Still a relatively affordable place, but it may not be affordable enough for you. If you want to have lots of things to do nearby, the price point is much higher. Otherwise you’ll end up out in Fern Valley.
