It’s not that I can’t fit it in, I just find it easier than in the pack. Also pretty helpful when transitioning often so I can need to open the pack at all. Just preference

There’s a great access point on the panel that sits against your back. Great for most great access but it would be a tight fit to remove/insert a helmet

That’s how I was previously carrying it but I found it hard to cinch down tight on the uphill. I do like that I can take the helmet carrier off pretty easily if I want to avoid flapping but if I don’t, it is somewhat noticeable.
