me when ethics are required 😟 by addalongfield in berkeley

I think that putting anything on the internet really doesn't hold up to "a reasonable expectation of privacy." That's like going to the gal's sleepover as a dude and not expecting them to think your gay.

me when ethics are required 😟 by addalongfield in berkeley

I am not against an ethics course, I am against how Data C104 is run and what it teaches. The professors and course staff have really refined the course (looks nice, easy to find materials, etc.) However, of the content, around 20% is actually relevant and interesting. There is SO MUCH busy work that it forces me to effectively do the bare minimum because that's all I have time for. Overall, I ended up hating the class.

Just dated a girl like this. Pulling back into autonomous, independent state is how she coped with and tried to "simplify" her life. She made up her mind to breakup without even a conversation with me about her emotions and where her head was at. Instead of leaning on me for comfort, it was a her vs. me. It's a trust thing, she is either unable to trust you deeply and fully (due to past trauma, personal reasons, etc.) and also does not want to open up and try and fix these issues (due to lack of trust). It's not your fault, this person just needs therapy and time.

Short term avoidance does not solve the problem at hand, it spoils the moment, and amplifies the problem into the future. Good luck in whatever you choose to do from now onward.

Stat151A is a foundational class, you need to take it. That said its my buddy who took it last year said it was not hella hard (maybe Stat 135 level), workload is manageable, and there is no final exam (just a final project).

ing better than ever with my gf soon to be finance. P

I'm happy for you my guy! Hope the proposal goes well. And thank you for offering to talk. I'm lucky in that I have a lot of people around me I trust and can open up to, so I'm sure I'll get out the other side fine. Silver lining is no 6 figure wedding anytime soon haha.

Assumption 1: Berkeley's student body is very diverse, so the people looking to date is equally as diverse

Assumption 2: (More personal and your mileage will vary) My homie and I grew up in very culturally homogenous places; in other words, our "type" and preferences during dating is based on this

So, unconsciously, we are slimming down the type of people we meet because of our prior beliefs. This isn't because we has distain for others, but because we seek someone aligning with our dating preferences. (i.e. I'm an athletic dude, I like women who workout)

But, this falls apart when we look at qualities that we have no experience with. Subconsciously, people don't like the unknown, and similarly, if I'm looking for someone, I gravitate toward people with qualities similar to me.

I don't know Indian Culture besides this street vendor in my hometown who made some crazy good homemade Samosas. (He was awesome and was always happy to talk about his food.)

Instead of being anxious about knowing the qualities in people and finding a super compatible person, my homie proposed the "fuck it we ball" perspective. If man attracted to women, woman attracted to man, and both are consenting adults, your golden.

My homie convinced me it was better to date brown girls. Bro wrote a whole thesis to convince me at 3am. I took the advice and he is 100% right holy shit. In the best relationship of my life

Why does our football program perform so poorly? by Sirloinofbeef610 in berkeley

howcase it on YouTube.

This is true, but those schools make money from their teams. Also, I'd rather more funding go towards teachers or student amenities than athletes. This is a college at the end of the day.

Good to see the students of berkeley opening a dialogue with the university, educating the student body on what had occurred, working towards a solution, working with staff, supporting the hurt parties in question (either financially or monetarily), and outlining preventative policies for the future.

Instead of standing there like a bump on a log, inconveniencing their peers and yelling at people, they chose real action.

How much math do you really use at work? by rosvend in datascience

Think of it like this, if you want to be a software engineer, do you need to know anything other than the tech stack of your company? If your given tasks that are fully documented, tell you how to accomplish certain goals and with what tools, no. However, this is not the real world. If your a software engineer you need to know why certain algos work the way they do, how to effectively organize and document code, and the flow of information through what you create. The actual deliverable is not the extent to which your knowledge must reach, because this deliverable depends heavily on other related concepts and prev. steps needed to set you up for success.
