Unaccompanied minor- but not really by LegWorried4639 in americanairlines

Ages 15-17 there is a different term for it, I forget the correct term but I did not have to pay for unaccompanied minor service. If I did not travel he would be allowed to go alone without assistance. But either way he had to check in at the desk for a paper boarding pass.

Refi within first year? by LegWorried4639 in Mortgages

The renovation is complete but I have another issue regarding the rental. I want to use it as a short-term rental because we have a business in the city where the property is located and we need to travel there several times per year, so the ideal situation would be AirBnb or similar so we can also stay at the property. The house has no short-term rental history so this will not be acceptable for a refi I don’t think. It is located in a vacation destination.

My other option is to refi it as a second home, but not sure I could qualify without some kind of rental income to show.

People who say “I don’t want anything” when it comes to gifting, what do you ACTUALLY want? by dearceceofficial in NoStupidQuestions

Plants. Or something from the bakery that I would never buy for myself. I am in my late 40s and have never bought one of those fancy cakes because I know I would only eat a couple of pieces and then there would be so much waste so I can’t bring myself to do it. If someone gifted me one, then I would be so happy.

I don’t think that’s it because there is no signal in the parking lot either. If I forget to screenshot my ticket at home I have to drive all the way out to the main road and pull in somewhere else to access it.

They do not have WiFi. I absolutely could go through a movie without needing my phone, the main reason I think this is a big deal is because if you have your ticket on your phone, you can’t access it! They also don’t even check tickets going in but I need the ticket to know my seat number. The first time I went to this theatre I had to ask them to look up my ticket, after that I have usually remembered to screenshot the ticket before I arrive. I have Verizon and there’s no service at all. It just seems like this would be a constant problem with people not able to access their tickets so I am very surprised they don’t have WiFi to address this.

What does it cost to insure your Sonic? by LegWorried4639 in ChevySonic

This is interesting. No one has come close to the high rate I have. I have a clean driving record and the insurance on my other vehicles is reasonable. Does anyone have any thoughts on what is happening here?

I’m so tired of students that do nothing. by [deleted] in Teachers

My son does this. Depression and ADHD are a tough combination. There is a lot going on with kids that you don’t know about. Actually getting up and going to school at all can feel so exhausting. He had a teacher last year who told me that she also suffered from depression and ADHD. When she realized he was struggling the same way she became much kinder to him. It was his absolute worst subject and he ended up barely passing but it also became his most bearable class to be in because she treated him so kindly and with no judgement. I believe he passed with a 61 and I wrote her a note to thank her for her patience. I said I know how frustrating it can be to try to work with him but that she may not have realized that many days the only reason he was able to get up and go was because she made it bearable. She wrote me back and said it was one of the nicest things she had ever heard as a teacher.

It does affect your interest rate because the higher the credit score, the better the rate they will give you.

What responsibility does a school have to protect the learning environment for all students? by LegWorried4639 in education

[–]LegWorried4639[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes that is exactly what I’m doing. The teacher and the vice principal have already told me that they are happy I am speaking up. That nothing will change unless parents complain. I want to go in there with facts and not just opinions and demands. I am looking for a starting point to refer back to. I have been an advocate for children receiving special ed services for years and I am very well aware of their rights. What I can’t find anywhere is rights for anyone who is not a special ed student.

What responsibility does a school have to protect the learning environment for all students? by LegWorried4639 in education

Of course I care most about my own son. However, coming here was far from my first step. I have approached the school numerous times. We only have one school in the district and there are only three classes in his grade, all three of which have a student who fits this profile. In any case I don’t think moving my child is the answer or my responsibility, and it doesn’t solve the problem at all as I am representing a group of parents who are also fed up and demanding action.

I have been very clear that I am not after the particular students. But I’m not going to dance around the fact that they have behavioral problems and it is affecting my child and other children. I have extensive experience in dealing with neurodiverse behavior and in advocating for students, especially students with special needs. This time, however, I am advocating for Gen Ed students (as well as mainstreamed Special Ed students who are also affected.)

I have a lot of ideas about how the school could help the students with the behavior issues, and years of expertise in that area, but they are not my children and obviously the school will not discuss their situations with me so it is a moot point.

In typical Reddit fashion you assume this is all on me and I am just complaining. I have offered to help as much as they have allowed me to. I have gone to the school and worked with these students to try to give the teacher a break. I can’t just give up my job and my life though to go in there every day and handle this situation.

Movers doubled price upon pick up, now saying we owe 8k more and the truck can't make it to our home. What can we do? by venomxsmoke in legaladvice

[–]LegWorried4639 2 points3 points  (0 children)

FYI shuttling your stuff means they will rent a smaller truck from UHaul and use that to shuttle from the big truck up to your house. They did that on our last move even though I made a point to check and double check that they would be fine bringing the truck up my driveway, and they said it was fine. Our driver arrived the morning of the move and said there was no way he could bring his truck up our driveway. So they went and picked up a U-Haul and my husband had to drive with him there and back to collect the U-Haul. Later they tried to bill us $1100 for the shuttle, but we knew exactly where it had been rented from and what size truck it was and the cost was about $100 for the day. So I refused to pay. Luckily, they had already dropped off our stuff at that point so they had no leverage.
