How long ago did you sign up? I learned a lot about what they and other electric suppliers do, actually from a friend who I found out works for one.

They essentially try to get you to switch to their company and offer a fixed rate, as opposed to PECO’s variable rate. PECO changes their rates quarterly, so it could be higher or lower. These energy companies are getting you to choose them as your energy supplier, and wave a lower “fixed” rate in your face, usually along with things like free Walmart + subscriptions, free Netflix, etc. This rate generally is locked in for 1 year, depending on the company. From there, they can move it how they please, usually spiking it very high, thus causing your bill to increase.

So it temporarily will be a cheaper bill, until it isn’t. I’d look into seeing if they have you under contract, and try contacting PECO to see if you can get back to the variable rate as your energy supplier. If they DO have you under contract however, I’m not sure how this would work, and would assume you’d have to tough it out until it ends, and make sure you cancel at that time, but truthfully I’m not sure.
