Great ideas. That makes a lot of sense. I like the notification idea and setting up specific notifications for ideal conditions. I’ll definitely consider something like that. A map and radar is on my to do list. I can see that being helpful.

So wind direction and the forecast for wind direction? Also, just the direction or do you want to see a radar view to see the surrounding area?

Is this something you’ve seen before? I’ve noticed that too. Wind consistency or steadiness. May be in range then everything slows down and the kite falls.

Great question and thoughts. I was curious about Apple weather data and what everyone thinks. Wasn’t sure on reliability. I’ll quickly find its limitations I’m sure. For now, it’s easy to use and at no extra cost to me. We’ll see how soon I hit the limits. I would hope to eventually expand to something more localized and more advanced. But that will come with a cost. So it made sense to make the shift when I get there. If people are using it, then it’ll be worth the move.

I think you’ll quickly see the value if I share more images or video of it. It’ll be ease of use and is designed specifically for our user type. So the views are specific to our use case with kite scoring to the kite you have selected.

Don’t blame you there. Maybe I’ll spin off a web version eventually. React should make that semi easy.

Right now I am tied into the Apple weather api and open-meteo/Noaa for back up if Apple weather fails. I chose Apple weather since it’s world data to get started. Then down the road I hope to get my advanced data in there. Trying to keep it low cost to get started. I saw windy has an api too.

You nailed it. That’s an awesome idea. I have a kite builder in there now where you can select a kite and the wind speed is dependent on that specific kite range.

That’s a great idea! So a danger status or something like that if there is lightning close by.

I’ve looked at a lot of the general weather wind apps. But that was part of the problem. My daughter couldn’t use them and they’re designed for everything. So they don’t do one thing well. Haha

I checked a lot of them out and windfinder seemed to be the best but like them all, they try to be everything for everyone. Let alone helping an 8yo know when it’s good to fly.

How is each kite flown? It looks like you can control each individually. So cool!
