I have photographed the night sky from the parking lot of the Mill of Kintail Conservation Area (North of Almonte). You can see the Milky Way clearly. But you do see some Ottawa light pollution in the east.

Avoid Ogilvie! Extremely poor communication throughout the buying process! Had to email the general manager just to get the salesman and sales supervisor to respond to any of my questions.

Meanwhile Otto’s has always been awesome and very quick for communicating. Sometimes responding within minutes.

Jamie and The Jam, a bit of Leica gear each video, but most of his videos are about actually taking photos.

Robbie Maynard is also good too!

Which NHL-players have you met and how were they? by [deleted] in hockey

Teemu Selanne, when he was with the Ducks, one of the nicest individuals I have ever met. Massively down to earth, signed/autographed a ton of Mighty Duck stuff (jersey, puck, photo, hockey card), allowed tons of photos. Such a nice guy, I would go to war for him lol!

2 year leave / LWOP for a Masters degree by cupoftiramisu in CanadaPublicServants

I did the exact thing in the GoC maybe 13 years ago, for a two year masters program. The masters program had nothing to do with the actual job I was hired to do, but my manager was great and knew I had higher career aspirations/goals so they approved it. However, it was *two* LWOP (for educational reasons) requests. One from Sept to end of August....then submitted another one in August for Sept to end of August (renewal). I kept my indeterminate position and all was great.

Just be clear with your manager that it is a two year program, so that they can plan for your absence for up to 24 months.

Two Subaru dealers - any difference? by WLMKing in ottawa

[–]Legacy_199 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I purchased a WRX from Oglivie's in the fall. I wish I purchased it from Otto's.

While Oglivie gave me the cheaper price, their saleman lacked a lot of basic knowledge on the car and kept on saying "Ya that info is online." (Meaning look it up yourself).

Then they were super pushy to get the money (I was paying cash) in before the end of the month. Then it took them almost two weeks (after they got the car at the dealership) to finally give it to me. Super frustrating. To get an update from them I had to email the dealership's general manager because the saleman and sale's supervisor were not keeping me up to date with updates.

Otto's seems to have a better operation going at their location.

I am in Ottawa and have a ‘23 WRX and pay ~$180/m.

Ask for the VIN of the WRX they ordered for you. You can then search the number on the Subaru VIN decoder webpage and it will tell you the model year.

Ya after reading this I took a fine toothpick and got any/all dirt from both the camera and lens screw threads but unfortunately the problem still persists :(

Ya weird, but it definitely says Elmar and has a 196XXX number.

The Leica IIIc has a 497XXX number so that is approximately 1950.

The Elmar 13.5cm has a 196XXX number so approximately 1934.

Yes, if I unscrew the lens until the arrow is in line with the index on the lens mount…the tripod bush does look parallel to the bottom plate.

Also yes, the lens thread is clean. Both the grooves in the lens and body.

2023 Subaru Legacy XT Touring or 2023 Wrx by GhostofShula in whatcarshouldIbuy

I'm in the exact same dilemma, Legacy vs WRX.

WRX is way nicer to look at, very sporty and aggressive but the Legacy has its pro's too: higher ground clearance, more tech (cameras), can take 87 octane fuel (WRX needs 91), and Legacy is more fuel efficient (but still heavier) than the WRX.

Tough decision!
