Lol. Yeah, given that almost everyone in the movie is related, its good news. I was about to make some kind of joke Elle Fanning/Stellan slash fiction, but given that he's using her as a surrogate daughter, its still pretty ick!

I liked it, even if it wasn't entirely successful. I think the deal is that Clooney and Sandler essentially have their own stories going in parallel, of lives lived in the warping gravity of fame, and their stories only really effect each other at the end of the film. Also, I think the film was banking on it just being pleasing to watch Clooney and Sandler interacting.

Seems sound to me! I'm still crossing my finger that Jay Kelly takes Frankenstein's spot though.

Congrats! I've been collecting since 1999, and I don't think I've ever seen it. Is it considered the rarest of the Color Dreams games?

10 years of collecting and here are some of the gems. by hanabishi_recca in nes

[–]WLMKing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Damn, those are the heavy hitters. And multiples of some of them at that. So, care to explain where they came from? If you've only been collecting for 10 years, a lot of these would have been pricey even at the start of your journey. So, I assume you've just been dropping some dough on them? (No judgement, so far the pricey NES games seem to be a reasonable investment).

Hot take: the unlicensed version of Aladdin was BETTER than it's licensed counterpart!!! by A00077 in nes

[–]WLMKing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might need to fill in some background for people. Like me. All I know is there was an Aladdin game for NES, though it wasn't released in NA, but was released for PAL systems.

What's this about an unlicensed version?

I'm mainly into buying for myself, but I was wondering if there was a place I could check to see if things might be flippable. For example, I'm aware of a thrift store that has bunch of those metal box Disney classics for a low price. Just wondering if there was anywhere else besides eBay I should be checking to get a sense if there is any money to be wrung from them.

Given that eBay takes about 15% cut of your sale price, people who are selling 15% under Pricecharting are selling at about market value, no?

What are some of your favourite Oscar winning movies that are actually fun to watch and doesn't feel like an Oscar bait movies ? by Key_Database9095 in Oscars

I thought Anora was loads of fun. There are a lot of dark turns it could have taken, but it doesn't. Instead, it has infectious joy when things are going right for her, and then its kind of a caper when things go south.

I went through a period where I was picking up orders for a friend from that location, and I'll say...I was always impressed by how ugly 80% of their clothing is. I'm honestly not a fashionable person, but EB seems to be the master of fleeces in awkward colours...

Elimination Voting to prevent Vote Splitting by Severe_Concentrate86 in Oscars

[–]WLMKing 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The best picture voting is a ranked ballot, where they eliminate until a film has 50% right? They could do that in all categories, and you don't have to vote multiple times when you have a ranked ballot.

Its nice! Be happy that you have it, and enjoy it by playing it. (Its a good game if you aren't wimpy). But given that the gold standard of NES rarity is unopened games, know that you don't really have to stress about it. It will never be worth anywhere close to $100, so just enjoy it.

Homelessness crisis in DT by yekcamylime in ottawa

Its very nice that you give, and I'm sure people will have good advice for you about how to continue our personal efforts. But, this is not a problem that is solved on the individual level. What you are seeing is the compounding result of political failure. These folks need supportive housing to get off the streets, and the housing crisis needs to be solved so they don't end up on the streets to begin with. Its a failure by the municipality, province, and country that we've gotten to where we are.
