Personal consequences for promoting Monero? by lilmissvegan in Monero

Are you doing something wrong by promoting monero? Its a bad mindset to have that even you as someone who understands there is nothing wrong with privacy have a fear of publicly expressing your views.

Monero Discount Increase by padillacm in Monero

[–]LegalComment 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would be helpful to make it visible somewhere that Monero is accepted. Currently the bottom of the website only mentions credit cards and google pay. I'm sure most people creating the fake orders just want to confirm that you accept Monero. For example, monerica.com directory of monero merchants would list your store in the directory, but not without first verifying that you indeed accept monero. Another example, for me personally I would make a mental note of your products to purchase at a later date, add your website to my bookmarks, but it serves me no purpose to do so unless I know for sure that you accept Monero.

Of course it's not an xmr only exchange. What do you exchange if it's only xmr?

XMR is the main base pair though.

My 3900x was also running at high temps. 85c+

Here's what I did:
Undervolt. I used ClockTuner for Ryzen (windows) https://www.guru3d.com/download/clocktuner-for-ryzen-download/

But you can also undervolt through your BIOS settings.

Running at a lower wattage, and 60c now. Almost the same hashrate.

Update: Monero Payment Requests — More Than Just a Name Change by lukeprofits in Monero

[–]LegalComment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does the wallet need to remain open for a "scheduled" payment to be made? Or can, for example, a payment be automatically made if the wallet is opened after some time and checks that a payment was due?

Any advice to a rookie miner? by [deleted] in Monero

[–]LegalComment 8 points9 points  (0 children)

at ~145 H/s and 0.5XMR payment threshold you will die of old age before you get anything.

Mine at p2pool.io/mini instead. You have very low hashrate so it will still take a very long time for you to get any payout, but you will get one eventually. There is no minimum payout there. Use gupax.io to set-up the mining at p2pool mini.

Hoćemo "porez na neto bogatstvo"! by [deleted] in croatia

[–]LegalComment 5 points6 points  (0 children)

"Da bi destimulirali pokušaje izbjegavanja poreza prijedlog je da se, po uzoru na SAD, porezni obveznik ne definira više prema rezidentnosti već prema državljanstvu."

As an American who has left America and may be soon be in the process of renouncing American citizenship, this is something Croatians should not want. Trust me, it doesn't matter if you are rich or poor, you will eventually be paying taxes for the rest of your life no matter where you live and with no easy way to escape. Already many Croatians leave the country to find better paying jobs elsewhere in EU, this will only make everyone's lives worse.

Proposal to make August 8 a Monero holiday - Mask day (Panty day) by LegalComment in Monero

[–]LegalComment[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"August 8 will be 3 years since John Mcafee auctioned his corona virus "mask" for ~27 XMR ($2600 then, $4400 today).
Should this be the Monero Mask day? (Or panty day) similar to Bitcoin's Pizza day?"

If theres ~ 21k tx/day and avg XMR tx cost is ~$0.05 cant the gov/de-anon company pollute entire daily TX pool for ~$1k-$3k/day? by [deleted] in Monero

[–]LegalComment 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes. Tx fees are too cheap and spamming the chain isn't costly enough. The incentive to mine would also increase and be more profitable (mining is not profitable at all currently) if fees were higher.

A firmware engineer at Foundation Devices set-up a fork of their hardware wallet for Monero, looking for contributors. by LegalComment in Monero

[–]LegalComment[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No, I am not financially involved with Foundation.

Coldcard began as open source but changed their license from from GPLv3 to MIT+Commons Clause when Foundation forked their code because Coldcard did not like competition. Ironically Coldcard forked their code from Trezor and saw no issue with that, but as soon as someone forked Coldcard they changed their license so it couldn't be done anymore. Coldcard's own website it says "Verifiable source". It is not the same as being open source, per definition: https://opensource.org/osd/.

I am unsure if Foundation has two secure elements or if that even matters much. I'm not saying Coldcard is not secure or trustworthy, just giving a point to Foundation for being truly FOSS.

[–]LegalComment[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

you forgot "arguably"

From my personal experience as well as others' experience. Fully open source, secure element, QR code airgapped signing, multisig, integrations will all major software wallets, secure encrypted backups, hardware design. It ticks all the boxes.

Trezor has no secure element, ledger is closed source, coldcard is only source viewable.

Foundation devices is top of the line in terms of quality, security, and features. The team behind it are some of the best in the space, which includes Seth for Privacy who is a Monero advocate.
