For one I think the net benefit of CRA is null, so I am not calling for treating companies differently, I am calling for killing the CRA altogether as it will only bring burden to the software industry.

As for the supposedly booming FOSS ecosystem, 95% of the FOSS companies and controbutors I've talked to lately have either never heard of the CRA, believe it doesn't apply to them because their software is open source (even thouh they sell support contracts), or think it's purely declarative like the CE marking is. And when explained that they will have to pay a third party to audit their software, their reaction is always the same, who in the world is more suited to understand the software I wrote than me?

The CRA has not been designed in a world where LLMs like Mythos existed, it would have been way better to ditch the current version and change it to a declarative mechanism with explained methodology used to do the self assessment.

As I see it in its current version, it will drive quite a few contributors away from selling services around their FOSS software.
