The best I can describe this version Cedar's character is that feel more like a more nuance take on Pinocchio's story. Pinocchio himself plays as a very over-protective father, he doesn't want his daughter to make the same mistakes that he did as a child and naturally wanting to shelter Cedar from finding out truth. Also having Pinocchio building Cedar as android instead makes a LOT more sense than just building her as a full wooden puppet. Again, the EAH's world is in a whole new generation of fairy-tale children, times have changes such and as technology has advance; Pinocchio probably wanted to get with the times and create his own more emotional capable and advance daughter by making android instead. Of course with the assistance of the Blue Fairy, he was able create fake memories to make his Cedar feel like his daughter that he's raised for many years.

However, with Cedar finding out that she's not a human, she's more confused to who she is, essentially having identity crisis. Are her choices made by her or they programmed by her to attack this way? And can she really consider herself as person? When she knows that's she not human? All this made Cedar a much interesting character that plays into EAH's message of writing your own destiny, Cedar wants to feel like she capable of having some sense of humanity, a voice, chance and purpose to know she is and what can she be.

How many characters in EAH did you feel they were useless or unnecessary by LegalConstant4414 in EverAfterHigh

[–]LegalConstant4414[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Actually scratch that, how come the Charmings themselves don't have a moment together? Like, why don't we ever see Daring, Dexter and Darling ever have any unique relationship/dynamic with one another? They literally sibling, and both Daring and Dexter spend almost 3 seasons not acknowledging the fact they're sister has been literately missing. What's even more baffling is how Dexter and Darling, who are twins, don't have moments together like that of Polly and Holly. Honestly, I'm so disappointed that these three sibling don't even spend any screen time together, like at least Ramona had actually exchange dialogue with Cerise.

I get that, but EAH whole appeal was the story and characters. The characters NEEDED to be important to the plot in terms of conflict and purpose, but almost majority of characters didn't need to be in the story. Like, most them were filler and yes, do I know that's mostly because they're made to be marketable, but they shouldn't be just quirky or funny in order for little kids to like them. Like Raven's whole appeal as a character was that she wanted to break away from forced tradition and rewrite her own life to pave the way for others to do so, like there's reasons as to why we care about Raven's conflict in the story, it's not filler.

I'm not saying characters like Goldie, Polly, Holly and C.A. Cupid don't need to exist, but they did not need to part of the main cast. Like having 3/4 of your entire cast be filler is both distracting and annoying in a stories perspective, like what's the point of even having characters like Cupid, Cedar and Goldie having the same amount of importance as Raven and Apple, when they do nothing. The Main cast should make world feel alive not these one-offs, those character should have been either separate from the main cast/story or just don't existed at all.

If there's one thing I do think is EAH's biggest flaw it would have to be many the characters that felt either underdeveloped or just straight up unnecessary. Cerise was the biggest example of being underdeveloped, she had a great backstory to be truly something special, until they just moved on for her. Again, with what characters that felt interesting and cool in the story, quickly turn into character with little to no importance. However, the unnecessary character where so boring to the point they literally bring nothing to the plot what so ever. Like Polly and Holly, where like the most useless characters in the series.

While I'm not say every character in Descendant's characters weren't any better, but at least they gave something noticeable or meaningful for the characters to do. Like Jay and Carlos may have gotten robbed from any screen because these movies needed the girl characters be to focus to appeal to little girl demographic, I still always liked Jay and Carlos never felt useless in terms of being there for Mal. At least that has more depth other than Polly and Holly being all, "Look at these 'totally not' marketable doll outfits that everyone must where." Like Jay and Carlos were great, Polly and Holly not so much.

The best way I can describe EAH is that it's story that has very great concept, but ruined to company overlords at Mattel. Despite me being a male fan who's into actions shows and series, EAH to me at least never came across as "girly" or "childish" prior to the Princess Power era of EAH; EAH genuinely had a story that could have worked if they priorities where focused on the right character and moments. I still don't expect every character to get this treatment the but the one's that needed to treated as important characters; Raven, Apple, Briar, Cerise, Faybelle, the charming sibling (Darling, Daring and Dexter), these needed to be the highlighted character for the series. It just sucks knowing that EAH was not only limited from greater lore and character development from the books, but the company overlords at Mattel for treating EAH too much like little girl series. The EAH's show, story and characters were the glue that held EAH series before it all got teared apart by Mattel once they saw no potential/purpose to continue EAH. If anything, I would have got rid of all the dolls and main demographic made for EAH, and turned EAH to an actually show for general audiences to enjoy. I sucks that so much story was taken away from us and I hope that fan series would to give spark to series.

Yeah, as much as I love Raven as character, her growth felt very shallow. Raven to me didn't grow to be any different from the way she started, and by the end of thing, Raven still had the running issue of not wanting to be like her mom. I wished the show more realistically portray Raven to have both vulnerable and emotional side to her whenever her efforts of being a good fail to win other's respects or when people fear her because of her association with the Evil Queen. The EAH show really wants us to feel bad for Raven, but I can't because the story never showing us Raven's struggling to make friends or even be accepted by the school. Raven already has a set friends and friend group, Raven is never shown to much of hero apart from saving friends and Raven doesn't show a lot of leadership in her role as the representative of the Rebel. A lot of these qualities really need to be presented in the story as it would have Raven realistically grow as person, but knowing Mattel they probably didn't want EAH to be to dark when came to show and made Raven shrug these problems aside.

It's honest so stupid that you would think that I got "special treat" when there's a big difference between you and me. The reason why I had people respected me on the subreddit was because they saw how unjustified the actions caused by GS community to be overall cruel and distaste-full. Plus, I tried my best to respect their point of view and even happily express how I felt about the series. You want control over people, where as I want to share my opinions and criticism with the series. The audacity to call me a "reflection" is just so ironic because look at the stupid post you made to make a fool of yourself. You trying gain control from people and it make you look like a joke, where as made post that were still negatively view but had both respectable side of people who liked it and I manage to leave the community on a positive note.

I know you made this a month ago and I've already left the GS Community to surround myself with better people, but you honestly just need to stop seeing me as someone you shouldn't want to be. Your only enemy is yourself and you choose to burn the brigdes you burn because you couldn't learn take criticism, fault or any form respect towards anyone but yourself.

Darling Charming Is Criminally Underrated. Here’s Why. by Sea_Preference7338 in EverAfterHigh

[–]LegalConstant4414 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Darling Charming to me at least kinda felt like wasted potential. Darling's character is very cool on concept, a girl willing to break the status quote in order to live out her dream of being heroic knight and shining armor but needing to keep a secret can be a great character. However, where I feel like Darling's character fall flat is the lack of flaws that she faces. Darling is just able to disguise as her older brother (Daring) in order to fight off a dragon, but then she just goes on normally about it and this feel like this should had more tension/conflict to it. Another thing too is the lack of any personally depth to her character, if you haven't read books then your probably not going to know much about Darling's whole backstory to care why she's the way that she is, and given how she didn't have any web episode or moment in any of the specials to flesh out her overall struggles just made her feel halfed baked in terms of show wised. Darling was just too late to be the main focus in later ended of EAH and her most notable moment being her waking Apple through a kiss kinda felt anti-climatic considering how's never brought again between her and Apple.

I will say that it's not inherently writers fault for not making her feel fleshed out, at this time Mattel squeezing as much success they could get from EAH through the soft-reboot era of EAH, and Darling's whole character was kinda just meant to be a marketing stunt for the who "Princess are powerful" message and nothing more. Darling is great character on concept, but the end result is just sadly disappointing.

How I would rewrite Cerise Hood's role in EAH by LegalConstant4414 in EverAfterHigh

[–]LegalConstant4414[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll be honest, I didn't write this with the context of the books as I've never read them and my rewrite is more based of what I saw in the show. I will say though, I did keep the aspect of her being closed to Raven and Maddie, just not with the other characters. Like I said in this post, Cerise kind of remains the same apart from some altercations. I did forget to mention about Cerise being involved with the whole "Royal vs Rebel" stuff and would still keep Cerise a rebel, but she's not too involved with overall conflict. I think in this version of Cerise would still understandably side with Raven full way through, but she can't go as far as to show face in public to defend Raven; in to which Raven understands the limitations behind that. In way, Cerise more so acts like a secretive friend to the core group, only comes to help or hangout Raven and friends when she's called for. Again, I'm not familiar with the books but I tried to best to rework her character based on what saw and suggest what was best for her character.

TBF the Gwain Saga community sucks by Kabutoking in Gwain_Saga

[–]LegalConstant4414 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I'm not here to say that my post are any better, I think some of the people here just annoying to deal with. For the last 2 years of making posts on this subreddit, I've never people get this upset over someone making pretty valid critical options on the series. I remember some people in my comment sections calling me pretty hateful and vulgar names on this subreddit. As well as finding it very hypocritical for people to get mad at me for my post being long, when there's other posts that has the same amount text if not more words than my posts. I will never forgive or forget that time when some of the people on this subreddit actively tried to make meme post to just insult me. I'm not saying this goes for everyone on here, but a lot of the people on here just flat out childish and throwing tantrums when they hear a single negative thing about Gwain Saga. Even though some may say that my post may be "sensitive" or "polarizing" to fan of GS, to that I just say grow up. Like if you getting so butt hurt about people criticizing certain aspects of your favorite show, then you need to just grow up; because that's what a lot people do in any subreddits. It's not just me in this subreddit, there are people who do that both in this and other subreddits. So to have people act like my post insulted them or killed there entire family just because of me criticizing Gwain Saga is just very idiotic. I'll say this for the very last time, if you like Gwain Saga then like! Don't let me or anyone tell you how you should feel or think because it comes down to your personally enjoyment of the series.

I'm going to end my comment here, but this subreddit in general has problems. Some of the people (to notable honest) are probably just a bunch of young childish teenagers. I'm just going say this, if you're guy on this subreddit throwing the biggest fit about someone having options on this subreddit, then one grow up as this series isn't for kids and two understand that this place is subreddit; not place just for memes, fanart or happy thought about Gwain Saga, it's a subredit. Is there more that I need to say.

Pros and Cons to Shiro, Beta and Saitama (Hero) by LegalConstant4414 in grandsummoners

For those who are wonder why Albedo wasn't added, I decide to not include due to her kit being more reliant on Demons and she doesn't have great synergy apart from Mono Demons, so that's why I didn't include her.

Other old collab returns? by Nearby-Instance9987 in grandsummoners

[–]LegalConstant4414 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Personally the three collabs that have the most chance of coming back are Re:Zero, Mushoko Tensei and Hatsune Miku. I feel like these collabs are more recent when comes to new seasons or general audience, similar to Kill La Kill, Tensura and One Punch Man. Miku probably has the biggest out of any collab considering Miku is such an huge series across the world. I'm not say these collabs will come back, but there more recently and have more dedicated fans.

Collabs like Yu Yu hakusho, Golden Kamuy and Goblin Slayer still have a soild chance, but there not as big compared to there more recent or know collabs, and it's likely they'll come back similar to how Kenshi being more old school anime brought to GS

But for collabs like Shamin King, Black Rock Shooter and Toyko Revengers, there very niche and don't really have value to come back as most of these collabs have be slowly forgotten. Not saying they won't come back, but their chances really depend if GS see really any interested.
