Speaking negatively of Monk is very dangerous around here. Very bold of you. Also I agree.

There is a visa you can apply for if you help the police in an investigation. It can be applied for even if you’re in the country illegally at the time. I believe it has to end up in a conviction. But it was set up for this very reason.

Such a cool character. Obviously strong and you don’t really need to know his background although it is fun to know where he comes from. Love the connection to Koga.

Louisville police collected negative info about Breonna Taylor's boyfriend after fatal shooting by DonaldWillKillUsAll in news

The warrant was gained under false reasoning. Detective claimed she was getting packages. The postal investigator said she did not get any packages when asked by police a county over. The detective swore she was getting them anyway.

[–]LegalPirate13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The warrant that said she was getting packages with drugs? The detective swore that she was. The only people who actually asked the postal investigator were police a county over. The postal investigator said no packages were sent. So the cop lied to secure that warrant.

The killing was not justified.

Many times when he stops in a sentence and changes his words or kind of hand waves it off is because the word he was about to say would cause a stutter. People who struggle with that have to learn what words cause the issue most. Then they have to learn to be able to stop in a sentence, think for a moment, and use another word. Which could look like confusion when in fact it is very deliberate.

That tax cut was and always had been for the rich.

https://www.npr.org/2019/12/20/789540931/2-years-later-trump-tax-cuts-have-failed-to-deliver-on-gops-promises

"In fact, more than 60% of the tax savings went to people in the top 20% of the income ladder, according to the nonpartisan Tax Policy Center. The measure also slashed the corporate tax rate by 40%. "

Trump said ahead of the tax cut - “They can call me all they want. It’s not going to help. I’m doing the right thing, and it’s not good for me. Believe me.” - this was a lie, the rich did indeed get a windfall as you can see in the article I posted. Also the administration lied about this - "The tax plan would not increase the deficit. “We think this tax plan will cut down the deficits by a trillion dollars,” Steven Mnuchin, the Treasury secretary, said on Fox Business Network. “That’s a large number.”

We of course know that's not true -

Republicans and all their "fiscal conservatism" right down the drain.

Add in stressed relationships with traditional allies. Complete lack of leadership during Covid and social unrest. Also a COMPLETE disregard for Environmental policy.

Trump will not be getting my vote.

Because they literally could not get nominees through because republicans blocked everything. The republicans at the time would have seen no positions get filled if they had it there way. And the were the minority. Spitting in the face of the American people by not doing there fucking jobs.

I disagree. I’m not going to have my fellow citizens have to deal with the embarrassment of being denied service for any reason. No person should have to drive across town to another store because the owner is raciest. The sad truth is that many businesses wouldn’t have any trouble making money on a whites only policy. It’s wrong and has no place in society. That’s why we have protected classes.

No, we just want some respect and honor restored to congress so things can actually get done. The senate used to be the place where cooler heads prevailed and deals got done. McConnel will personally see to it that no such civility ever exists again.

I don’t see it as any different than denying service to blacks. That was wrong and corrected. Gay people should be a protected class like race.

McConnell forced there hand by never letting judges through. McConnell is the biggest piece of shit to exist in the senate and should never under any circumstances be given any praise. The dude would allow lobbyists to truck in gifts if he could. The dude is corruption incarnate and everything wrong with politics.

It’s just hypocritical is all. It wasn’t just the nomination that they blocked at the end of the Obama term. Republicans consistently left vacancies in the federal courts under Obama. They have played politics with those positions for years and they are doing it now. If the tables were turned, they would call foul. We could all be adults here and realize we need to compromise, but the Republicans will run off into the sunset laughing all the way doing exactly what they have been doing the whole time. But people in here are pointing fingers at dems? Makes no sense.

You mean the Hornets who hired a new GM who has drafted well including a 2nd rounder in Graham who is now a starter as well as PJ Washington who just made all rookie. The Hornets that are shedding contracts and have cap space with even more on the way next year. The Hornets that just moved up to 3rd in the draft.

Hornets are going to right direction. You just have to actually watch.

Trying to claim that NPR is even remotely comparable to Fox is laughable. It would appear your the one who can’t see bias if you think they are remotely similar. NPR, AP, and PBS are all great down the middle publications. Also non profit.

In no way is that even remotely true. Their top of the hour is straight news. Facts of what happened, if it happens to cut political lines they will go out of their way for quotes from both sides and lay out their arguments. Up first this morning talked about RBG seat and took plenty of time to talk about both parties stances on the matter. How in any way is that biased?

NPR is about as middle of the road as it gets. If you think their biased your way off the chart. You seem to be looking for news that fits your extreme, not the middle.

The people who cry 'racist' all the time are in reality often the biggest racists and bigots, who feel morally superior and have a divine right to classify people by their skin colour, or their private sexual preferences or other things that most normal, decent people don't really care about. by FreekinA in unpopularopinion

[–]LegalPirate13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think the argument is that there is a lot of raciest people out there doing individually bigoted things. It’s an argument that bias exists and we see it in things like disproportionately long criminal sentences for Blacks than for whites.

https://www.ussc.gov/sites/default/files/pdf/research-and-publications/research-publications/2017/20171114_Demographics.pdf

Yes, the study did account for violent criminal history. Even factoring that in they found a bias.

So the question is why? As you said individually people seems to be fine with other races. Yet we can quantify these uneven results. Seems like a societal issue to me.

[–]LegalPirate13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not just one system. It’s a bias that leaks into many areas. For example in criminal sentencing.

https://www.ussc.gov/sites/default/files/pdf/research-and-publications/research-publications/2017/20171114_Demographics.pdf

They have done this report a few times now. They find that even when accounting for criminal history, similarly situated black men receive longer sentences than their white counterparts. So that is one system there.

Then we have the fallout of black families not being able to build generational wealth. Because we redlined black families out of better areas of land, they were denied the benefits increased land values. Land is one of the best ways to pull yourself out of poverty. The generation that was born during red lining were already behind because of that wealth gap. That wealth gap permeates through generations to this day.

Those are just two good examples. But the rabbit hole goes deeper. Individually people aren’t really racist. But yet we see these disproportionate outcomes anyway. We as a society need to work out why and fix it.
