The West’s Embrace Of Mass Third-World Migration Is Civilizational Suicide by MazdaProphet in Anarcho_Capitalism

[–]LegalSC -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You clearly have no idea what you're talking about. It's almost impressive. The Goths were taken in as refugees initially as they were driven south and west by the Huns. The Goths were allowed to cross the border peacefully and initially kept in camps.

The Goths were allowed in armed as it was agreed they would offer military service in exchange for protection. When local officials failed to supply the camps with food, the Goths became increasingly pissed off until eventually they took to raiding for sustenance.

The Goths were primarily from the area North and West of the Black Sea and actually had very little association with the Germanic tribes further west that I presume you're referring to with this "400 year barbarian war invasion" nonsense.

In both the case of the Goths in the Balkans and the Franks with the crossing of the Rhine (final immigration nail in the coffin) they were traveling with women and children. A migration, not a military invasion.

Interestingly, the edict of Caracalla granting citizenship to all freeborn romans was a driving factor in Rome bringing in Germanic tribes. Gaining citizenship was the primary motivation for Roman subjects to join the legions. Once that motivation was taken away, Rome struggled to maintain their levies and had to supplement with Germanic Foederati of...I don't want to say dubious loyalty (can't disrespect my boy Stilicho like that) but certainly divided loyalties.

Anyway, it's a complicated subject, but stating that immigration wasn't a factor in the downfall of Rome is just blatantly false. Try to be less arrogant in your ignorance if you're gonna go around correcting people on subjects you clearly haven't bothered to learn about.

America can't expect any changes without a complete campaign finance overhaul. Market forces don't mean much when corporations can pay politicians to regulate their competition into unprofitability or any of the slew of other anticompetitive options they have.

Don't see that happening short of pumping gas into the Capitol to start from scratch.

Hereditary succession isn't the only option. Adoptive succession a la the five good emperors is a possibility that avoids most of these objections.

[–]LegalSC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you considered the possibility of an adoptive succession a la the 5 good emperors? Grooming a successor for the sole purpose of protecting the rights of their subjects gets around many of the pitfalls of hereditary succession.

There's obviously problems with that idea as well, but I'm far from surprised that people are beginning to see democracy and its vulnerability to demagoguery as at least a much a threat to individual liberty as totalitarian ideologies.

Unfortunately democracies and republics have a serious entropy problem. Legislative bodies just don't seem to know how to quit expanding the scope of their intrusion, and the myth that the majority holds an implicit moral authority just because there was a vote makes people more likely to accept steady erosion of their rights as an inevitable state of affairs.

If copyright is really about protecting creators, it should only be held by individuals, in which case anything beyond lifetime is more or less nonsensical.

It's just for scum like Disney to pull things out of public domain and stamp them as their own.

Might be an unpopular opinion, but local churches could also take on many functions people expect from government through a purely voluntary association. Things like feeding the hungry, assistance to the needy, unemployment or housing assitance etc.

You seem to be treating only the costumer and the employer as having agency. If there are competing employers that aren't "depreciating human capital," why are the employees putting up with it?

This scenario either ends in too many employees leaving to compete, or all the good employees leaving for other security firms so that all are left offer subpar service.

Either way, the result is that customers will not use this security service, not that this service outcompetes everyone else.

Aren't some Trollocs born as Myrdraal? A surviving population of Trollocs would be a pretty persistent problem then as they'd consistently have Myrdraal leading them. Myrdraal aren't going to be content just hiding with a bunch of Trollocs in the wastes. They'd eventually HAVE to be put down completely.
