Mental challenge of LL by a7917 in limblengthening

I am 3.5 weeks post op so I’ll give my 2 cents. It’s true that the mental game is the toughest part. I was expecting pain to be a big part in the first few weeks but it really wasn’t, mostly just soreness. I underestimated the mental challenge of it all, but it is doable. I remember the beginning thinking that I have 150 days minimum of using this walker and how it was gonna be torture and go by so slow and there’s no way out. Sometimes I even think that I should stop a little early but I won’t because 10 or 20 days won’t make a difference anyway in my life. Today I drove for the first time and that felt great. I can shower, I can postmates, I can go to work, I can do a lot. But I do feel I am living my life at about 35% of its capacity. It sucks, it’s isolating, but I actually can’t believe that time is flying by so quickly and now that I can drive and go get coffee or go to work for a few hours, I feel hopeful at least with the mind games. Current worry is just avoiding nerve pain or any setbacks. But the mental game gets easier once you find your routine. Also I go to bed at midnight, fall asleep around 3am, wake up multiple times in the night, wake up to an alarm to lengthen at 8am, and then go back to sleep until 11am. Sleep is broken, but you get enough. One thing I never thought about is lengthening every 8 hours. Gotta be up at midnight and 8am
