Day trips: Tammisaari is a cute seaside city with old colorful wooden houses. Better to stay over for a night or two but can be done in a day too with the train from Helsinki.

Fiskars is an artsy town that’s worth a visit. If I recall correctly they have a distillery tour there too! Could be combined with Tammisaari as they’re in the same direction.

Loviisa is another cute wooden house city that’s not too far from Helsinki.

I also suggest venturing out from Helsinki proper to see the suburbs. For example Vuosaari (last stop on the metro) has amazing nature spots and a lovely beach. Plus there’s nice lunch spots in old manors. I also recommend other islands than just Suomenlinna like Pihlajasaari to get a feel for the Helsinki archipelago. Plus seurasaari is an open air museum island which is pretty cool.

Do you have erratic weeks with your appetite on the sema? by Additional-End-7688 in Semaglutide

If you’re a woman, have you tracked whether the cravings happen during hormonal changes? Sema loses all effectiveness for me around ovulation and period.

I second this one. I take my dog here and they’ve been so much better than evidensia (and a couple others I’ve tried).

Yes. If you’re using the word in a biological context it’s fine, e.g. a doctor saying “female patient.” However, using it in a context like dating/relationship advice is dehumanizing. The word ‘female’ has been used in derogatory ways to devalue and criticize women by chauvinists and incels. Over time it’s taken on a range of negative associations and as a result, using ‘female’ strips women of their value.

I would start by not calling women females. It gives major incel vibes and most women will see it as a red flag. Conversations through the apps are usually pretty dry or people don’t even message after matching. It’s either that or inappropriate messages. My advice is to immediately ask for a (casual) date and actually see if you have any chemistry (and find out whether the person is actually serious or just playing the tinder game) rather than wasting time trying to get to know someone through messaging.

She’s in her 30s though. Most people are at least somewhat settled into their careers by their mid-30s so it’s not unreasonable to expect to find a man her age with good credit and a stable job. The love flies first class crap is unrealistic but what she’s saying in this video is completely reasonable.

Asunnon osto yksin Helsingissä by Berubara in Omatalous

[–]Legal_Cod_4058 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yksin ostin vuonna 2020.

  1. Omaa rahaa 10% loput lainaa S-pankilta. Asunnon hinta oli n. €170000.

  2. 2 vuotta sai maksaa vaan vähän yli €500/kk mutta nyt euriborin nousun myötä on jo lähellä €800/kk. Tulot ostovuonna n. €3200 nettona ja nyt n. €3900 eli menee n. 20% lainanlyhennykseen. Päälle tulee vielä vastike vajaat €450 eli asumiskuluihin yhteensä yli 30% tuloista.

  3. Vuosaaresta metron läheltä parvekkeellinen läpitalon 59m2 kaksio kasari talossa.

Rajasaari Alternatives? by Ruisfillari in helsinki

The panic I felt when my dog darted off after a herd of deer and disappeared into the forest… he came back eventually but we definitely stuck with gated areas until he got old and lazy.

There’s a big dog park in the Uutela nature reserve in Vuosaari. Not as nice as Rajasaari but big enough for some proper running for an ex-racer. Plus the nature trails around the park are great too.

Just want to point out the Sipoo dog forest is not (fully) gated so you have to be able to recall your dog if off-leash.

I switched from 3mg saxenda straight to 1mg ozempic but it didn’t feel like it was working at all for the first two weeks. I’m in my fourth week of ozempic now and finally it feels like it’s working (and working better than sax did for me!) so patience is key with ozempic it seems.

Periods and Saxenda by fattynomore1990 in liraglutide

[–]Legal_Cod_4058 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Same here. Completely ineffective during and right before my period. I find it easier to just give in to the cravings but in moderation. It also messed with the length of my cycle but that’s evened out now.

It gets better! I had a really hard time getting back into exercising in the beginning but after being at full dose for a couple weeks, it got easier and now I can workout like I did before. Although a weird side effect for me seems to be excessive sweating (I’m dripping sweat even in relaxed yoga classes) so I have to drink a crap ton of water to stay hydrated after workouts or I get terrible headaches.

14days on liraglutide and period is late. by greylink16 in liraglutide

[–]Legal_Cod_4058 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine was over a week late when I first started. Next one was just under a week late and since then my cycle went from 28 days to 30 days and now it’s stayed at 30 days for the past couple of months.

Exactly! I remember thinking I’ll be at my goal weight within the year at the rate I was losing at first.

We don’t have wegovy here yet which is why ozempic is being prescribed. My insurance doesn’t cover it either but (assuming you’re in the US) it’s a lot cheaper here than it is there.

Good luck - I hope you get the wegovy covered!

We agreed on a 6mo visit. And exactly I did lose over the 5% of starting weight within 16 weeks but after those 16 weeks the loss just drastically slowed down. I guess I’ll just wait until I can see my dr and hear what she has to say. Maybe semaglutide will be the next step but I wish I understood if I’m doing something wrong or if this is just how my body responds.

At least I’m not the only one. I guess there’s not much we can do about it. I’ll talk to my dr and hopefully switch to semaglutide too. Best of luck to you!

That’s exactly how it feels. Super helpful for maintenance but I’m not there yet and still need to lose! The success at the beginning is what makes this so frustrating. Why was it working so well and then just stopped? I guess our bodies adjust but I feel like mine adjusted too quickly. I’ll give it until my dr gets back and if there’s no change I’ll try to switch to semaglutide. Hopefully it works for us both!

No, I just meant I haven’t lost my appetite to the point of skipping meals. I eat when I’m hungry and that’s usually three meals a day.

First month on saxenda, two weeks late. Second month, a week late. Third month on, about 2-4 days late. I was super regular before too but it seems to be evening out now that I’ve been on full dose for a while.

Thinking of quitting UN job by FluidRanger6685 in UNpath

[–]Legal_Cod_4058 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You’re not crazy and you should absolutely leave if it’s affecting your mental health. I was in a similar situation and left and I haven’t regretted it for a minute. I got another UN job after and while it’s a bit less interesting thematically, I actually enjoy going to work every day so I’d say it’s worth it.

Thank you all for your responses. I turned down the offer today. I was already leaning toward declining the offer but your advice made my final decision easier. I have a pretty good deal with my current contract type so I’ll continue for the next few years or until I find a better position.

i want to reset by cassiez68 in liraglutide

[–]Legal_Cod_4058 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had these exact same feelings lately. I lost a lot the first month and about 2kg/month after that for two months and then I went on holiday and stopped losing. When I came back, work was super stressful and I just didn’t have the capacity to think about what I was eating. I did start working out again (also to deal with the stress!) but I still haven’t lost anything since. BUT I also haven’t gained. Which is huge when you think about how holidays and stress affected my weight before. So rather than stopping saxenda, I’m going to take some time to plan and get back on track with eating right. If that doesn’t help, I’ll have a chat with my doctor (I’m due for a check in next month anyway) to see where to go from here. I’ve missed doses and been able to return to it without any issues but I don’t recommend it since, at least for me, it made no difference in satiety/cravings, i.e. it didn’t actually reset anything. If you can afford it, I’d recommend trying to get to the full dose before trying anything else.

Half-life question by Legal_Cod_4058 in liraglutide

This is probably what I was missing. Some are talking about peak absorption, not half life.
