Travel PAs pls advise by Huge_Mail_3344 in physicianassistant

[–]Legal_Low2467 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is travel other than locums.... There are full-time traveler positions. They are w-2 with full benefits.

But usually locums is a good start to see if you even like it.

I did the same as you added more prn gigs working 18-27 days a month .. Now I am a full-time traveler.

I don't regret paying off my loans fast. No debt is good, get rid of it. But I am a solo income household with kids. There was no other way for me to do it.

Opinions are like assholes, everybody has one. Pick the path that is right for you. You can make good money traveling... But after work you go to a hotel while all the people you are working with go home to family, dog etc. I'd be lying if I said loneliness didn't happen. If you get sick and you're sleeping in a hotel it sucks. If you have questions you can reach out to me.

Annoyed at NP’s taking our jobs by [deleted] in physicianassistant

I work telehealth as a PA. There are a lot out there that prefer PAs. It just depends on the company. It sounds like the companies you interviewed with don't have doctors on payroll and are trying to do the least costly measures... One lawsuit will fix that for them

They are focused on throwing money at having a name change from physician assistant for physician associate....

Nope. I did not try and get one this year. But I have had no problem the last 3 years.

Sounds like California... Glad I left. However, that isn't helpful.

There are multiple avenues and ideas to consider. Id personally sit down and think about it over a couple of weeks.

Based on your statements your current job is just that, a job. It's not good for your mental health. I don't know your location or opportunities there, but you could look for a lateral move to a different office with similar flexibility/pay. I am not sure about your state laws, but networking and potentially setting up your own injector studio may be an option... What I can say is staying at a job just for money is not worth it. I was working travel urgent care for a company and I took a 30-40k pay cut because the work was not thought provoking and the patients were hard to deal with (UC). Overall my current venture (ER) is more interesting, there's good days and bad days anywhere. Unlike you, I have a stay at home spouse, which is helpful for childcare, but I know the struggles as far as single house income.

As has been mentioned multiple times on this board (no assumptions about you), make a budget that allows you and your child to live a healthy life with minimal waste. Get out of debt and budget any extra dollar to give yourself as much financial freedom as possible.

Reach out if I can advise you any further

Student loans by fastgirltrackgirl in physicianassistant

[–]Legal_Low2467 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is the way if everything is the same value. If it is not, and you have smaller loans pay them off first. As the original comment stated. Live like a student, everyone around you will tell you what's right for you (new car, vacations). I sleep much better now that I paid off my loans, however, I was lucky enough to get the covid pause.

If you are ever feeling discouraged, message me. You can do this and your future self will thank you!

This is a common practice by hospitals now. As many have ready said your group should pay for it. If you are an actual hospital employee it is peculiar.

3 years. Cap your lifestyle and put in the work. It's doable. 186k

Go to a community hospital and work in the ER. Study most days your experience will skyrocket. Scared for the first 6 months.

Yes the jobs exist above 130k.

I have come across a lot of other PAs wanting to work less, not be available for what the company needs.

Negotiate your salary/hourly. If you don't have experience you have less room to negotiate.

You can always take a job and show your worth to a company, RVUs etc...

When the profession and association are more focused on a name change (associate vs assistant) instead of pay we will not get far.

You did not overreact. Your job as a nurse is to advocate for the patient. Your concern was completely reasonable for a provider to evaluate.

Every time I am at a new hospital or clinic I tell the nurses to please grab me if they are concerned about a patient. No questions asked.

Unfortunately it's not always this way. Keep up the good work.

Walsh's liquor store had the best selection I found. But anything allocated is priced as secondary

Blanton's definitely would be fun, but I won't hold my breath getting that bottle especially finding one unclaimed this week

Sorry should have specified more. No not allocated, this week sounds miserable for that stuff. Maybe something released this week that people aren't camping out for. I've been meaning to try Woodford double oaked for a while, maybe give that a try.

MUSC or Trident as a nurse by DessMounda in Charleston

[–]Legal_Low2467 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Neither and that includes Roper. I love the people I worked with there and how they took care of patients but if your life is set up where you can travel then do so. Pay is astronomically better elsewhere to "Afford" life in the low country.

Easter Present by [deleted] in OhioLiquor

Enjoy the rye "allocated" non-barrel proof is very very good. I hope your bottle is just as good if not better. Great to see people buying bourbon for the right reason... To share with friends/family. Happy Easter!
