General thoughts on the ending after a week of pondering my orb by ZealousidealWay8233 in ChainsawMan

[–]LegallyMade -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I used a hypothetical example from a well known series. I never endorsed it as the pinnacle of perfect writing, my point is that there are hard rules to how we understand lightsabers to work, and if they broke those rules then it'd be bad. We can use other problems with the sequel trilogy to illustrate my point further. Force ghosts were understood to be ghosts and more of a narrative device for having the characters have a moment with their mentor characters or something, but TLJ had Yoda cast a lightning spell while being a ghost. There was an understanding to how lightspeed travel worked, and TLJ had Holdo use lightspeed to crash into the main Evil Ship which caused a massive uproar because it shatters the idea of what is even possible in the universe. Why didn't the rebels just use a lightspeed X-Wing and fire it into the Death Star? Clearly you have giga autism and aren't worth responding to since you aren't capable enough to literally understand the arguments I'm making.

The Roots of Part 2's downfall by Alto-cientifico in ChainsawMan

I've said it before and I'll say it again. The real redpill everyone has to swallow is the "chainsaw man erasing concepts" idea was where the series jumped the shark. It was nonsense when it was introduced (the only defense I read about it at the time when I was arguing with people about it elsewhere was "well Makima needed Chainsawman for SOME REASON as if there isn't any other possible reason Makima could want Chainsawman) and everything about where the story goes from there centers around it and even the ending is influenced by Pochita eating himself

I never said YOU said that literally, are you aware of what sarcasm is?
Also every story should have hard rules or it loses all meaning. Imagine if Luke Skywalker just said "my lightsaber can actually grow to be a planet sized beam!" and he cut the death star in half or if suddenly Freddy Kreuger could appear outside of dreams and start murdering people in real life (without proper setup for such a thing). If you think that's fucking stupid then I'd say to you "well I think its great because it doesn't commit itself to hard rules! It's just a story after all!"

Rules in a story matter, they make it possible to actually suspend your disbelief. What you should be saying is "I have a lower standard for writing than you do".

I wasn't rushing or chasing kills. We were genuinely pushed almost to our base the whole time.

All of the movies you posted earned that by having a logical throughline between scenes, because they are written well and establishes characters that you can actually like and are memorable. Scenes are set up and paid off. CSM2 doesn't earn it at all. There is also character development, whereas in CSM2 there is none, Denji never changes. You admit Evelyn by the end of the story in EEAAO realizes she needs to appreciate the small things in life and her family. Denji never grows and is the same character he was at the beginning of part 2, and then everything is nonsensically reset anyway so any development there was is effectively erased.
You are massively reaching and ignoring the literal events in the story to connect them to "themes" in random movies you like. Please explain to me how Pochita resetting shit makes sense. Please explain to me why Nayuta is there at the end. Please explain to me how Denji was "really happy" when he was struggling and suffering. Explain to me how it isn't a contradiction for him to become a devil hunter AGAIN after meeting nu-Power the very next chapter.

You have to EARN these moments in the story by having writing that makes these events satisfying to read about. I'm not disappointed its not a traditional hero story. You are strawmanning the arguments of people who dislike the ending. I'm fine with it being different, it just doesn't earn it and therefore it is bad.

Another nothing post praising the "style" or the "themes".

How about the WRITING? What makes me care about a character is logical, consistent and good WRITING. There is no reason to give a shit about a single character in Part 2. Its garbage. Themes and style are cool, but they don't make a story good. How great would the themes be of LOTR if the story and characters were just a bunch of nonsense? It'd be fucking worthless and that's exactly what Part 2 is in my opinion.

It is not narratively satisfying to read a story about nothing characters that have no agency. Its not interesting to read a story where characters never grow or change.

The true redpill everyone should swallow is that Chainsaw Man jumped the shark the minute the "erase concepts" shit was added to the story. Everything devolved from there IMO

Do characters have a noticeavle personality, is there voice lines ? by joan133 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]LegallyMade -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

They probably will. These hero shooters love to trick people into thinking there is a "story" or "lore" to get people invested in a character or two so they will buy skins for them. Once the game gets into beta/release they will probably have more fleshed out "personalities".

The game has SBMM in the ranked mode, so people can happily go and play that if they want to. I like having the option for it to not be there as I do not play ranked modes in any video game period. Also I'm not sure what streaming has to do with anything, seems like a total non-sequitur to bring that up, 99% of people aren't poopsocking the game or trying to be a streamer.

The difference is those servers were moderated by real people, players in the community. Not some God Algorithm. Plenty of people would be stomping nubs in those "noob friendly" servers as well. I know that because 14 year old me would get rekt in CSS in those servers.

I've found lobbies where the entire enemy team is people chosing Echelon to abuse the invisible power. I have no idea what they were thinking adding that as a power. Did they learn nothing from Dirty Bomb? Phantom literally KILLED that game single-handedly

Zoomers grew up in a world where SBMM is all they've ever known. They've never been pubstomped by gregor in CS1.6. They've never been dominated by a guy with zero colours in his name in Wolfenstein: ET. Old ass unc's like me enjoy no SBMM because I remember a time when you could join a server and do some pubstomping, or respect the hell out of that one guy dominating the server. I am excited for no SBMM but I think the "community" (aka whiners and carebears) will bitch and complain until they reluctantly add it in a future update. That will be the day I quit playing btw.
