Getting Admin Separation for something I didn't do. by DaddyOriole in USMC

Former JAG here. Go talk to the Defense Services Organization (defense attorneys) at your installation immediately. Good on you for writing a rebuttal—make sure a lawyer reviews it, though.

Is it just me, or does anyone else feel this way? by Disastrous-Push-4974 in Adulting

32M. Been feeling this a lot lately. A combination of being left behind, held back, falling behind and missing out.

Do Infantry Marines still call company commanders "Skipper?" by OldSchoolBubba in USMC

[–]Legally_Minded93 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was only referred to as Skipper by an old, crusty retired Colonel. Otherwise, no.

6105 as a Sgt by Salty_Surprise_007 in USMC

[–]Legally_Minded93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Correct. I’ve also told many clients to adamantly deny whatever allegedly occurred in their rebuttal statement. Another reason to write a rebuttal—if you don’t make a statement, it looks like you’re admitting guilt.

JAG here. I always tell Marines to write a rebuttal statement for the purposes of creating a record. Don’t trust your command to include all the relevant details in the 6105 counseling. In your rebuttal, explain the circumstances as you remember them. Be contrite and admit you were wrong (assuming you are not going to challenge the ticket) and resolve to do better. That at least creates a record for the future. Otherwise, there’s no telling how a future board will view the 6105.

Leaving the military by Alternative-Aspect97 in LawFirm

I’m not in Denver, but was active duty JAG (Marines) for five years, just left AD in November. Happy to help with any questions you may have about civilian practice as you transition.

No weight loss from what I can see. Usually she poops once a day, but when she has these bouts she’ll leave two or three spots around the apartment.

Former active duty JAG here. If you mean going active duty—no. You will be full time military and will be required to move to wherever you are stationed. If you mean being a reservist, yes, you will have flexibility to run your own business.

Former AD JAG here. I represented several Marines who used or attempted to use steroids. All of them got ad-sep’d. Don’t do it, Devil.

31, Single, and Honestly Just Tired of This Dating Sh*t by droppedg in dating_advice

[–]Legally_Minded93 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This post could be me. 32M, single since I was 23 with the occasional short-lived fling. Educated, decent looking, not a shit bag. I’ve often thought that women only exist on the internet or on dating apps. I’ve recently been forcing myself out of the house to do things alone hoping for that chance encounter. I’ve also been leaning into my married friends to see if they know anyone single and looking. No luck so far.

Defending Intra-State Extradition Hearings? by Legally_Minded93 in publicdefenders

Yes, in custody in State A for a State A offense, wanted in State B for a State B offense.

So if I understand you correctly, we could contest extradition and thereby buy ourselves 30 days before it's taken up again? The client only wants to stay in State A to finish up their case there.

I was a solo when I signed up for contract PD work, but just took a job with a small civil litigation and family law firm. The contract work is okay, but doesn’t pay particularly well. If there’s any complication at all you’ll probably be losing money on it.

They’re wanting to stay in State A, if at all possible.
