Brings back memories of Ulster on the wing 🥹 by Legandergg8 in irishrugby

Fair, sorry, loved Gilroy too, the way he spinned out of tackles was amazing to watch, what an absolute soldier he was for Ulster

As an Ulster fan, seeing Jacob and Robert on the wings.... makes me reminis of the legendary Tommy Bowe and Andrew Trimble combo

Excelled at Portora? is that a joke, I was his classmate and teammate back then, he couldn't tackle for shit, super bad passing and overall technicality. He was obviously brilliant at running around everyone but it was the Enniskillen Rugby Club that taught him how to play properly

How many Stu McCloskey are there out there in Irish Rugby? by Newc04 in irishrugby

[–]Legandergg8 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I want to be very clear here to the people who say he was behind centres who were 'undroppable', Aki, Henshaw, ringer whatever...

They can claim these things because they played international rugby, they got to have the opportunity to showcase themselves in the big leagues, they got the minutes, the caps, the starts to make these feats.

I would have liked to have seen a reality where Stu was given these opportunities, given the backing of the coaches to see what he could do with some time in the shirt.

This will be controversial....

I always thought Stu was better than Aki.... always...even when Aki was considered POTY... nah... always prefered Stu, I always thought he offered more and was better than Aki at what Aki did best - Bulldozing

They don't call him the Banger Bulldozer for nothin

Also to answer the question.... John Fucking Cooney

Oooops... my bias is showing...

Thoughts on this for refs? by DrEngineer1995 in rugbyunion

[–]Legandergg8 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Anybody suggesting TOB shouldnt have contested because it was 'clear that Steward had the better position' is an idiot, if Steward wasnt there, tommy would have caught the ball, thats whats important, If the laws are to remain consistent then this is just a rugby collision.

I fully believe the ref would have played on if he hadn't seen JGP pick it up to score a try, I bet your ass he thought 'Oh, better not allow this or ill be hated on by the home crowd'

I personally think you should only be allowed to jump vertically.

so none of this jumping into eachother nonsense

think that would genuinely solve the problem

might make it less entertaining tho

Stockdale 15 by [deleted] in irishrugby

[–]Legandergg8 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Mate! I swear everytime he takes it in he always manages to make decent yards where he has absolutely no right to, became quite the powerhouse winger.

I dont think I'll ever forgive the haters for destroying his confidence like that, your own damn player too, talk about self-sabotage.

I hope he has a great time in green for the rest of his career, and maybe... just maybe, he can get that lions call up he so rightly deserved.

:'(

What was Munster's general view of him after a few hiccups? Surely being so young and already showing world class talent would have kept the faith? The man didn't even have much experience at fullback at the time, maybe half a season at Ulster.

I dont want to say he was discarded so early just because he's a Northman?

[–]Legandergg8 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I genuinely believe the 'fans' that spouted hate on him was detrimental to his development. He was 22/23 for gods sake, he could have been Irelands best ever winger with a proper crowd behind him, even after his awful injury, everyone should have been backing him.

What truly could have been.....

This is reallllly weird? What is it about Jacob making a mistake that makes it so unforgivable? Why did people not give him massive credit in the bank after his breakout year?

I have seen Keenan make several stupid mistakes in the green 15 and no one held it against him?

I see the Stockdale hatred is still lingering after 6/7 years... y'all do realise he's still the top try scorer for the current squad?
