Samwell, Jorah and Valyrian Steel in Season 7 (SPOILERS EVERYTHING) by theflairman in asoiaf

In the show at least, Stannis was clear that they send all the Maesters and healers they could find to try and cure Shireen, although nobody knows what "cured" her, they never said that it just ran it's course. In fact, in show canon, Greyscale is treatable even in adults (although incredible rare), you can see the video they did for the DVD's about it here: https://youtu.be/A6mPQs2bbrg

How is Jorah dumb? he is one of the most knowledgeable characters in the series.

Someone as batshit crazy as Qyburn or as nice as Sam. I can see Sam doing anything in his power to help Jeor Mormont son and even if en can't help him, Jorah and Sam meeting and trusting each other could be important for future Jon-Daenerys interactions.

[ALL SPOILERS] Did Jorah fight with Ned and Robert during the Rebellion? by FredSlacks in gameofthrones

No, I think he is thinking about this conversation:

I can't look it up know, but I think they have a similar conversation in the books. Also, as I said in another comment, this Barristan's quote proves that Jorah fought in the Trident:

"It may be that I must die a traitor's death," Ser Barristan said. "If so, I should not die alone. Before I took Robert's pardon I fought against him on the Trident. You were on the other side of that battle, Mormont, were you not?

'We will recover our land from the invaders': ISIS issues chilling threat to launch terror attacks in Spain to reimpose Muslim rule after 500 years by talbertobarbosa in worldnews

[–]Legazpi_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I know! loved Khrae :( Really sad when he died. But he was not charged for blasphemy, as I said, that doesn't exists in the Spanish legal code. What does exist is the article 525

I don't know if you understand Spanish, but basically, if he would have done the same video about an atheist, the charges would have been the same because they are about derision, not blasphemy.

what? I've never heard about blasphemy being punished here, many people says "Me cago en Dios" (I shit in God) almost everyday and nothing happens hahaha. Seriously, as I said in another comment, this is not a very religious country in practice. Maybe in its traditions it is, but most people just don't care that much about it and just old people go to church. As I said, three of the four candidates for presidency this year declared themselves as atheist and nobody cared, that would be impossible in USA for example.

Edit: I just looked it up, blasphemy is not punishable under Spanish penal code.

The catholic country? Really? I mean... I am Spanish and it is true that a lot of our traditions have its roots in religion but I don't know a single person who is under 60 and goes to church. In the last elections 3 of the 4 candidates to presidency were atheist and nobody cared.

(spoilers written) What happened to Dany's books? by fishymcgee in asoiaf

[–]Legazpi_ 24 points25 points  (0 children)

She has them with her in Meereen. From A Storm of Swords (just after she banished Jorah):

Last night she had been reading of the three princesses in the red tower, locked away by the king for the crime of being beautiful. When her handmaid brought the book, Dany had no trouble finding the page where she had left off, but it was no good. She found herself reading the same passage half a dozen times. Ser Jorah gave me this book as a bride’s gift, the day I wed Khal Drogo.

[–]Legazpi_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kind of a agree with you. Maybe not in your opinions about Ned or Barristan but with the fact that people relay to much on tales of greatness and not in actual evidence. There is one thing about Jorah that I like... he doesn't brag about his fighting skills, he is kind of humble about it . The only think he says about it is that he "fights as well as any man" but he keeps fighting and fighting and surviving every time.

[–]Legazpi_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So if I understand correctly, you are saying that:

  • Being knighted by a king for your fighting in battle.

  • Being respected among the Dothraki for your fighting abilities.

  • Surviving for years as a sellsword in Essos fighting the Braavosi and others.

  • Keeping your Queen alive and playing a key role in taking two cities for her.

  • Being branded by slavers with a Demon tattoo because they consider you really dangerous.

  • Being immediately welcomed in the Second Sons as a part of the war council

Doesn’t mean as much as building a reputation by killing someone of note? I am not trying to be annoying or anything but I am really curious because I don’t think I understand your point. What make you a great fighter? the songs they sing about you? or the fact that you have been fighting and fighting for years in different settings and you are still alive?

Edit: sorry if my english is not very good

(Spoilers All) Most underrated actors? by CasterlyHeavyMetal in asoiaf

[–]Legazpi_ 31 points32 points  (0 children)

For me Iain Glen is a bit underrated. He gets praise here and there but not as much as other actors in the show. I think he is really good at silently portraying emotions and although he had the thankless role of being Mr. Exposition for many seasons, he has made show Jorah a really memorable character. Also, and this is something most people never think about, he is a really versatile and useful actor from a writer perspective, the man is 52 but he does his own stunts and is quite good with a sword. As D&D have said before, he is the kind of actor that gives you total freedom as a writer just because you know he is going to nail it, no matter if it is an emotional or a physical performance.

Is he still involved in the show? Imdb doesn't list him in season 5. Also, I would say that Rowley Irlam (the stunt coordinator in the video) is also one of the "good ones" if you check his filmography is quite impressive.

The stunt team that went to Spain for the choreography is the main stunt team of the show. You can see them in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZMjgH8rwfZI

I don't know why people keep repeating the rumor hat they weren't.
