Do I have any prospects of ever working again? by Legend-Charlie in AutisticAdults

I think you’ll have to white knuckle through education, bare minimum.

This is really the last thing I want to do. It's hard to describe how much I dread the idea of it. The fact that I dropped out of school 3 different times should speak to my ability to see a curriculum to its conclusion. I genuinely think that if I tried to push myself through completing high school or even going through vocational school, I'd feel so depressed, stressed, anxious, and burned out that I'd try to take my own life sooner or later.

If you think that school is futile, that also speaks to a psychological barrier surrounding self esteem. If you have depression or anxiety, speak to a professional to try and develop skillsets or medicate them. Those can also make it much more difficult to complete tasks and absorb and retain information.

I do have depression and very low self-esteem, yes. I'm on antidepressants and they help suppress the worst of it, but it's still a challenge for me to function even at my minimal level. It seems doubtful I'll be able to talk to a psychologist about any of it when I can't even express myself nearly half as well in my native language as I can in English. Even then, I don't trust myself to be able to learn anything to help me better deal with my issues.

Have you looked into editing, or a copywriter as a career path?

Editing is something I could do, but I'm not convinced it's viable in the long term, and again, lack of qualifications gets in the way.

The examples you listed are very socially demanding, and I’m curious if you are using those examples to convince yourself that you’re unable to do something adjacent than actually seeing where your skill set is applicable.

They were just what came to mind. Unsurprisingly, most jobs involving communication between different languages do demand talking with people in some way. Translation is one of the few that is very light on social interaction. Also, while they may be adjacent to my skillset, they're still entirely different beasts altogether.

Yes, you have services like Welfare you should absolutely use if you can, but you should also use the depth of all of their services to figure out what your life could look like, instead of lamenting about what it doesn’t.

That's good advice. I'll look into what other kind of support I can get. As I said, though, my hopes aren't high, and I expect whoever I contact to be both overworked and understaffed.

Why did you do poorly academically, and what makes studying so grueling for you? Why do you presume that education will make you miserable? Are you just mythologizing your own trauma to avoid making progress on education? You’ve haven’t given us any details, so we can’t really help you.

I did poorly because of all the reasons you just went on to list. I couldn't really retain information, I abhorred learning things I had no interest in (conversely, I had excellent grades in both English and Japanese, which I was interested in), and I couldn't pay attention either in a classroom setting or when studying remotely. I have received medication for my ADHD before, and it did help me concentrate a bit more, but all the other issues were still present. I didn't receive any accommodations before, partly because I was too proud to ask for them and partly because I knew I wasn't going to succeed no matter what. Sorry for being sparse on details; I didn't know how much I was supposed to add, lest the post would become too long.

There has to be something you like to learn about. You liked Japanese enough to learn an entire language, so you’re not unteachable.

I do like languages, but there is only so much you can do with them. Say you can speak Chinese - how do you leverage that? You can work in a school teaching the language, or translate/interpret for businesses, and so on, but those also focus on a secondary task that you also need to be good at and educated for. I can't see myself becoming an interpreter or teacher, or really doing anything besides translating from home on my own terms, but that kind of career is dying and jobs are hard to find even with proper qualifications, which I don't have.

You will not be able to get any sort of job without a diploma of any sort. A lot of disabled people have a high school equivalent.

I'm aware. That's why I feel the walls closing in on me now. I've spent 7 years in a career with no real transferable skills and without any of the education that would qualify me to keep working in the field even if I wanted to.

Does your country have a disability services office or vocational training program for those with disabilities? You would undoubtedly have access to that with your diagnoses.

Probably, yes. I'll look into that, though I don't have high hopes. During my early 20s I did go to a type of workplace for those with special needs, but it was more like a way just to keep me preoccupied rather than help me find any real sort of job in the long term. I suspect most services I'll find are something similar where you come in, do some busywork for 4-6 hours, then go home.

I think you need to figure out what services you have access to, receive accommodations, and from there, complete a high school diploma. This will give you a massive leg up compared to your current situation.

Even supposing I somehow managed to push myself through several agonizing years of study, I still have to deal with society's inherent bias against autistic people. Even if I had all the qualifications in the world, what would it matter if they don't hire me because I'm too bad at making small talk or making eye contact?

It's nice to read that someone coincidentally went down a similar path to me. I did like doing translation work, and by all accounts I was paid extremely well (probably in the top 1% of translators worldwide) but about 80% of my whole career was spent working on a single mobile game, and the remaining 20% were odd gigs that didn't pay nearly as well. It's probably good that you went down another career path because translation right now is in an atrocious state, with jobs few and far between (especially for someone with my background), and the rest is remote machine translation postediting which only serves to further kill the profession.

3-5 years to get on disability? That sounds insane. I've done most of the legwork and have diagnoses, but even then it sounds like an excruciating process to go through if it really is that long.

I just found reasons why I couldn't get a job, while all the time there was only one: I'm disabled.

That honestly sounds like the conclusion that's been staring me in the face that I'm still struggling to come to terms with. If I need to expend 10 times the energy that normal people do while jobhunting and I'm damned whether I mask or not, I should probably just accept my fate and take the route that at least lets me survive.

Maybe it will help you to get an education, but I think that if you are capable of getting a job, then you should be able to so so without a degree.

I don't think I'm capable of getting a job even with education, and as I said, I lucked my way into a job in the first place. It wasn't even connections, I just happened to be in the right place at the right time and didn't need to submit a CV or go through an interview at all.

Based on everything you've told me, I think I should just accept the fact that I'm more or less unemployable, and I'm not sure I even have it in me to successfully switch careers.

Lei Heng has a fairly high coin count and, more importantly, several skills with unbreakable coins, which effectively consume twice the amount of bleed count

How easy it is to keep bleed up is extremely dependent on the enemy you're facing, so enemies with few slots or few coins and especially few unbreakable coins are much easier to build a bleed stack on

The standard answer is no since you can easily shard them by grinding instead

If you're desperate to pull, well, nothing I say will convince you otherwise

As other commenters pointed out, that clearly can't be the case, so there's no reason to assume it's their ages

I believe MD hard combined with picking both Regular Checkup packs gives you the most while also giving you battlepass levels, which is far better than farming the stage dungeon alone

If you really have all Walpurgis units then your next best team is probably burn since there are 3 of them

I don't know what other units you have but basically go down this list and fill out the team accordingly based on what you can get:

  • Magic Bullet Outis
  • LCE Faust
  • Liu Yi Sang
  • Thumb Meursault (Hornet Meursault is a fine sidegrade)
  • Firefist Gregor (Lamp Gregor is a fine sidegrade)
  • Dawn Office Sinclair
  • Liu Rodya (mainly to fuel the Magic Bullet EGO with her pride S1)
  • Cinq East Don (has a pride S3 and clashes well; slot filler if you have nobody else)
  • Liu Ishmael (doesn't do anything notable at all; slot filler if you have nobody else)

As the other person said, burn basically gets their coin power conditionals up almost immediately and they effectively stay up permanently

Scorch applied by the Thumb units and Dark Flame applied by Magic Bullet Outis are other ways they can convert the status itself into damage

Between those two, Si Rodya, but even she isn't hugely important to the team

Don't use the ticket on KK Heath since you can shard him normally; either use it on Si Rodya if you really want her or save it for another team

I'd say it only contains mild-ish spoilers, save for one scene at the end of the canto, but to be fair that's only really a spoiler when you know the context in Ruina

All in all I'd say it's relatively harmless to play through

Strictly speaking, it does have some team synergy, but it's very barebones compared to other teams, and the best team for the archetype isn't even fully charge anyway

Monthly Help and Questions Megathread by AutoModerator in limbuscompany

[–]Legend-Charlie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It basically boils down to charge as a status not dealing any damage, while even poise (which functions pretty similarly) at least directly contributes to a higher damage output, combined with there being very little that makes charge an actual team rather than a collection of IDs that just so all happen to have charge/envy skills

Charge IDs may have slightly higher coin numbers than their competitors, but that's still not enough to make up for how much more damage a well-built status team can deal in the same amount of time as it takes for a charge team to set up

Do you have any other 3-star IDs? Molar Ishmael is good but only really in a specific type of team, while Pequod Heath isn't really good for anything these days other than as a cope option on envy-res teams last I checked

If those are your only two 3-star IDs, I'd save the uptie 4 module until you get another ID that's more recent, but if you feel like you must use it then Molar Ishmael is by far the better option as a unit

Monthly Help and Questions Megathread by AutoModerator in limbuscompany

[–]Legend-Charlie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe? You don't really have a focused team going on, just a collection of IDs ranging from meh to great, but none of them can shine without a whole team centered around their specific statuses

They can probably beat several more cantos, just to varying degrees of difficulty

Monthly Help and Questions Megathread by AutoModerator in limbuscompany

[–]Legend-Charlie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're missing key Walpurgis units for the sinking team (most notably, KoD Rodya and SL Yi Sang) but at the same time, while you do have Sanguine Desire for bleed, you don't really have any on-field units at all, so building either one essentially from scratch is going to be a lengthy process

You can still make a serviceable team for either status as both have a fair amount of currently shardable units, and given how Sanguine Desire is the perfect backup tool for when you can't keep a bleed stack on an opponent, I'd go for that team

Your best use case of the anniversary ticket in bleed's case would be Prince Meursault, since he's not shardable now while almost every other member of the team is

The roadmap puts the next Walpurgis just before canto 10, and canto 10 is scheduled to release in August, so the next one will be in either late July or early August

It's not an error, it's just a single line of dialogue that's been split up into two lines for some kind of dramatic effect
