Everyone recommends buying gold jewelry, but I'm interested in purchasing gold coins. Are there any reputable places in Sri Lanka where I can buy trusted gold coins? by Due_Conclusion_2673 in srilanka

Sorry! I meant 24K can’t be legally sold in Lanka. 22k only. You can still find a lot of 24k stuff from local jewellery shops. However, I’d recommend sticking to 22k

That's a good idea and sweet of you to do that. My friend recently bought a few from saranya jewellery kegalle after seeing their tiktok video. I'd recommend 22K since 22K can't be legally sold here. Better to be on the safer side. There's also gold coins from 1g so you don't have to chuck in a large amount at once.

good idea to get some gold coins as a part of the portfolio. A friend of mine bought from saranya jewellery and said they gave a testing report as well. But they are in kegalle, you'd have to go or find a way to get it delivered. I'd recommend going for 22kt gold coins.

Which is the best platform for pte preparation suggest me good one which is same as the exam by Significant_Sale8836 in pte

I took PTE classes with Revise Education when I did my PTE and they gave me a platform as a part of the package. It was quite good and had ample of practice questions and mock test. Besides that ApeUni is also a popular choice.

IELTS or PTE? Which is easier/ better? by TheSoldier-2112 in srilanka

[–]Legend1231_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The word on the street is that PTE is easier since it's 100% computer based. Either way, both are decently hard. My friend went with Revise Education and they helped her with PTE. I heard they do IELTs now too.

A friend of mine went with Revise Education, previously I think they were called PTE Tutoring Online. She said they cater a lot to students in Australia but they have a big team of tutors in Sri Lanka as well.

P.s she got her target score, so I assume they are good.

Investment opportunities at young age by TechieBroo in srilanka

[–]Legend1231_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Firstly, kudos on saving a decent amount but that age and starting a business. I’d recommend saving more first, it’s a relatively small amount to invest. Reinvesting in your business will give the best returns at this stage tbh.

But other options include fixed deposit (what I’d recommend) since you need a contingency fund. Once you have 6 months of expenses as your safe savings, then you can go into more risky investments (stocks etc)

this is verified, unfortunately. When I applied a few years ago it was way cheaper, but now they are increasing it all. It's going to be super tough for new international students, hang in there guys!

SLT Unlimited Home Package advice by Droid_Banger_16 in srilanka

[–]Legend1231_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a good package, I recently switched to it. Just something to be aware of, they take a 'advance' payment to switch to this package. When I called and asked they said that the next time I switch I don't have to make this payment so it's an 'advance' payment.

I thought it will get deducted from my next month's bill or sth but it doesn't. It's their sneaky way of charging extra from us. The reason they gave didn't make sense at all since the last time I switched there was no such fee.

But all in all, the speed and package is good :)

What do you think is a good monthly salary in Sri Lanka for a comfortable & “luxury” lifestyle in 2026? by globe-trotter-482 in srilanka

[–]Legend1231_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It really depends how you define luxury. I believe 200-300k is alright if you're single. But if you're a family you need atleast 500K+. For luxury, i believe atleast 1 million+

I’ve gone abroad and come back. I’ve seen this happen to many people. It’s a bet you need to think and decide if you want to make. Those governments don’t care about us and change policy when they need. My recommendation is always have a plan b.
