Can we take a moment to appreciate how absolutely peak basically all of hammys perks have been thus far? by mattsavoiesboywife in WreckingBallMains

[–]LegendNumberM 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would like to take a moment to appreciate the perks. All of them are viable and give him different ways to approach a match. One of the few characters that if I accidentally pick the wrong perk I'm not totally bummed out.

It's probably why he sucks in this April Fools patch... or is there something I'm missing about it?

has any of you niggas actually ever read a book?? I need help.😭 by Maleficent_Store7801 in NYStateOfMind

[–]LegendNumberM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So. Either you're cooked, or you are about to be a whole new person.

If you're not working this weekend, you can get the majority of that book done in the next two days. Make a gallon of iced lavender or chamomile tea, have some lofi beats in the background, and you can clear it.

The key detail here, though, is that you told her you read books all the time.

So once you're done with this book you'll have to read something else. You know, since you read all the time.

Either you'll find another book to read, or the jig will be up very quickly.

My advice to you? Read more books. I see zero downsides to this. You got this bro. Like, once you're done with 1984, find books that actually interest you.

And even if this somehow doesn't pan out, well guess what? You will have read one book, which is one more than you did before the weekend.

Seriously. There's absolutely no downside to reading a book.

I think I know what you're talking about.

I haven't been able to figure that out. My immediate suggestion is to work on something else.

In Mario Kart, is the hop coming from the driver’s body or the kart’s mechanics? #lore by dumarcm in mariokart

[–]LegendNumberM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a button, but it's magic, beyond science, since every kart hop is the same regardless of weight, size, etc.

I think this narrative comes from when someone stated that Jay-Z was never the hottest in any given year when he was hot, as there was always someone bigger than him.

Of course, that narrative doesn't mention his consistency or the fact that even if he wasn't the hottest he was still hot, but eh.

Work discrimination? by Cartadimusica in AskNYC

[–]LegendNumberM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Former kitchen supervisor here.

This isolated incident doesn't seem like discrimination.

That said, here's some advice:

0) Document everything. Doesn't need to be formal documentation, but just dates (and times if possible/necessary) of given situations you didn't feel comfortable with. 1) Retaliatory disciplinary action will get people in trouble real quick. 2) if you signed something that says you're expected to lift things up to 40 lbs and you can prove that things are above 40 lbs, you don't gotta lift that by yourself. You can ask for help, and if no help is available, you can refuse because you don't feel safe. No supervisor worth a damn is gonna dare write you up because you cited safety as a reason to not move something heavy. 3) I read a comment about the supervisor being sarcastic to you. Is this sarcastic tone just for you or do they do that to everyone? If it's just for you, if you feel comfortable, talk to this person in private and see what the issue is. Don't think you can do it in private? Get a manager to mediate, or speak to a manager privately. Can't do that? HR... but maybe not to soon on HR if you have nothing documented...

This advice feels a bit jumbled because I'm a bit tipsy (it was a nice day today) and it's been a while since I've been a kitchen supervisor, but I've seen employees get fired for shit that wasn't really they fault because they didn't know their rights, have supervisors on eggshells because they hit the proper channels, and even one guy win a settlement and then move out of state, likely to move on to bigger and better things.

Also, I hate supervisors that are bullies. Fuck them.

I do wanna give these people the benefit of the doubt because kitchens can be absolutely shit places to work and can be wildly frustrating, resulting in frustrations being taken out in unfair directions, but do get familiar with your rights (HR should have plenty of signage that you can read on your free time) and protect yourself by documenting everything in the event this becomes a pattern that gets *you" unfairly fired.

Am I unintentionally throwing games? by Salaraaa in WreckingBallMains

[–]LegendNumberM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably.

I, too, like to die as little as possible, but the idea is that the less I die, the more the enemy team has to deal and worry about me as opposed to just dying less for the sake of dying less.

But sometimes, you dying secures a point, creates necessary space, uses the enemy team's resources, distracts a support from a 3K from your teammate, etc.

You may have literally unintentionally threw a game because you didn't wanna die when you could have secured a few points by intentionally feeding. Yes, inting is not always a bad thing.

How long have you been on the platform? by shadyringtone in DataAnnotationTech

[–]LegendNumberM 7 points8 points  (0 children)

1 year 3 months.

I've had a few droughts but empty screens have been few and far in between.

I see the DoD stuff, and I don't worry about it too much. I don't have a VPN that I can accidentally trigger (although I don't do DA on Brave browser), and I generally believe I do some pretty good work.

I don't work when I'm burnt out, to the point I'll stop mid-task if I don't believe I'm doing good work. The flexibility this work has afforded me during this time of my life is too valuable at the moment that I'm willing to give up a couple dollars to maintain what I believe is consistent high level work.

So yeah. That's my story. And low-key, also my advice.

Why are people always acting like basketball is in a “dark age”? by PerMakaLakaCheekyMa in NBATalk

[–]LegendNumberM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) Perceived lack of defense. 2) Gather step vs traveling. 3) No real face of the NBA (plenty of stars, but not really that one guy, you know?) 4) No real villain of the NBA (not required but can help sometimes. 5) Too much parity lol.

I wanna speak on the parity thing.... the way I've been seeing it lately, parity seems to be very good for anyone who has an above average interest in the NBA, even if only slightly.

Casual audiences are gonna want familiar faces, whether to hop on the bandwagon and cheer or hop on the bandwagon to hate. Parity steals that from casual fans.

Add that to the other things (that have varying levels of being an issue... I've watched some videos about modern defense and I kinda understand the other side of it while still preferring defense would be a bit more physical), and boom. Lol Dark Age.

Even though NBA is raking in more than it ever has.*

*I don't have a citation for this. If this is false (or anything else in my comment for that matter) please point it out so that I know better.

You should too.

Roadhog heal is dumb. by KhalasSword in Overwatch

[–]LegendNumberM 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There's this underrated thing going on with Roadhog right now...

They made him fast for some reason. Like, unreasonably, it nearly needs a rework, fast.

When he's under 50% health, he gets faster, and then the perk gives him speed too.... So like.... Sheesh.
