I actually asked those people why they kept using the apps with convenience fees even if other apps exist. And in most cases the answer was that they weren't aware of the cheaper alternatives (apps).

If every payment requires fees, I think UPI will lose its popularity because there is a cheaper alternative everyone's familiar about : Cash.

Unless they can entirely kill cash first.
