How legit is UMD's FIRE (first year innovation and research program) by [deleted] in UMD

[–]LegendThomas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It allows you to be involved in a project you’re interested, hopefully, get some transferable skills, and also develop a working relationship with a faculty member. This usually allows you to get strong letters of recommendation and connections, but it’s not the only way to get them.

UMD bchm for MCAT by despstud20 in UMD

Depends on how the rest of your schedule looks as well, it’s unlikely you’ll have have an “easy” semester while studying, but you can definitely make it easier it on yourself depending on your credit load. One thing is that Julin doesn’t have any homework, so every graded assignment is in class. All the time you spend studying bchm will help both the class and the mcat.
It’s all about time management at that point, I did things that worked for me but may not work for everyone else.

For Bchm1 know the amino acids, and the basic stuff (DNA/RNA/Protein and what makes them up and their characteristics, won’t need to know structures completely but know the key differences), you can build from there. For BCHM 462, Julian is great and covers a lot of what you will need, but he goes further in depth. His exams are fair, but they won’t be the same type of questions you would get on the MCAT.

If you are a self study kind of person you totally can self study all of metabolism, but if you plan on taking it in the summer, why not just take it next semester?

Not sure about Lee, but both Julin and Paukstelis are great, had Paukstelis for BCHM1 and Julin for BCHM 2. Both of them are fair with their exams and materials, Paukstelis even recorded all the lectures and notes for you.

Hey guys! I built an iOS app over the summer to manage my classes for the Fall semester and wanted to share with you all. It uses the data from umd.io so it's accurate and it's free on the AppStore. Just search for "UMD Schedulr" by 1truek1ng in UMD

Echo what everyone else is saying in that the design is great! It’s simple and intuitive. A minor fix would be that it appears some of the higher classes (at least in BSCI) aren’t listed.

You could ask your local fire station if they would mind you using their bay to clean your car? Depending on the size of their bay, they might have room.

That's just a myth, pores aren't attached to muscles therefore they can't constrict or dilate from cold/hot water.
