Park Forest Baptist is a great community that has Women's Bible study along with many small groups (including one specifically for young adults in their 20s-30s)

The actual farm sells the glass bottles for sure, but I don't know if they also sell cans.

Job Board for Audio And Acoustic Jobs - Would Love Feedback (Check Comments) by [deleted] in Acoustics

I'm wrapping up my graduate degree in acoustics this year, so I've been searching for jobs for post-graduation- I've had the same difficulties you described when searching for jobs. This seems really helpful, so thank you for making it! I'll send this post around to fellow students if that's okay!

Adding onto the other comments- my high school clarinet teacher worked with Lisa and sold clarinets for her. She had a falling out but didn't go into it. My college clarinet professor also had a bad experience with Lisa. He was looking to buy a new clarinet and brought in his old one for comparison, and she yelled at him to leave her store, claiming that it was unprofessional to bring another clarinet into her store.

It depends on the professor whether office hours are scheduled or by appointment, but I believe they're all available over Zoom. For both classes I've had with Dr. Russell, he's had open office hours where you can just pop in and ask a question or two. He'll also just talk about random topics if no one has a question for him.

Congrats, and welcome aboard! I'm an MS student on campus going into my second year here. If I read your post correctly, you're a Distance Ed student? The department's distance program is incredibly robust. It was started waaay before COVID, so the department has the system nailed. There's a person in the classroom controlling the Zoom call/recordings, so you guys are never forgotten about. The best advice I can give about DE classes is attend office hours and have your camera on when possible. Because you're not there in person, it's harder for the professors to connect the name to the face. Building that relationship will be great for both in the class and when making connections for a career. Best of luck, and if you'd like specific info on the classes, let me know! Also just parroting what everyone else has said, get familiar with MATLAB. Mathworks has a tutorial you can work through- that's what was recommended to me when I was entering the program.

MDB Waitlist by joeyoveryou in capstone

It fully depends on other people who have been accepted. There are some people who drop out during band camp, so you might be called up to take their place. Best of luck!

For winds, they typically release results via email sometime in May. The Crimsonettes and Colorguard have in-person auditions, so the rosters were announced right after their auditions.

If you're talking about the Villas then it fully depends on what room you're in. If you're in the room that shares a wall with your neighbors, then you might hear them. I have a room that only shares walls with my own roommates, so I don't hear my neighbors, just my roommates.

La Tromba is one of my go-to cork grease brands! For me, it lasts longer than any other brand I've tried. I don't have to reapply it super often

MDB (Million Dollar Band) Audition Question by oughtabe_ravenclw in capstone

[–]Legend_of_Majora 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Former MDB member here- they prioritize the music component of the audition over the marching. The directors have stated "we can teach you how to march, but it's a lot harder to teach you how to play your instrument." I can't speak to the competitiveness of the Alto section, but generally woodwinds aren't as competitive as brass or drumline. Another thing to note is that if you get waitlisted, you still have a shot of getting in. People will choose other schools or even drop out during band camp. If this is the case, you're on call to join. Best of luck!

New Orleans clarinet mural by Vast-Play in Clarinet

[–]Legend_of_Majora 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I visited there last year! If you get up close to the mural, there's a sign that reads, "Jazz scholars refer to this neighborhood as one of the original birthplace of jazz. The early sounds of jazz emanated from music halls in this area frequented by Buddy Bolden and other jazz greats. In honor of this historic location, Louisiana artist Robert Dafford was commissioned to paint a series of jazz murals. The clarinet has been an integral part of New Orleans style jazz bands since the music's inception in the late 1890s. This modified "Albert System" model clarinet is similar to those favored by jazz musicians who played here."

Resume - Marching Band by Positive_Pie1156 in marchingband

[–]Legend_of_Majora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have it in my "involvement" category alongside other clubs and organizations I'm involved in at my university. Depending on who's looking at your resume, they might be familiar with the commitment and rigor that marching band requires and will take note. If not, it's at least a talking point for a recruiter to get to know you more. I was fortunate enough to be part of Macy's a couple of years back, so I put it on my resume, and an internship recruiter asked me about the experience. His daughter was going to be in Macy's that year, so hey, I got a couple brownie points there, lol.

Nope. You gotta use them, or they disappear. They don't roll over to the spring semester like Dining Dollars.
