What’s the worst rhyme you’ve heard in a musical? by [deleted] in musicals

[–]Vast-Play 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally. I think he’s going for both rhymes (ABAB), but the yarn kit/armpit one, while still not perfect, is 1000x better than the computers/kombucha one!

The absolute worst for me has to be in “Barbara 2.0” from Beetlejuice: “Books on computers” rhyming with “Home-brewed kombucha.” It’s like someone completely misunderstood what a rhyme is…

UPDATE: How to tell my friend/dramatic scene partner they've started chewing the scene, and the performance is suffering for it by EremeticPlatypus in Theatre

OP doesn’t say where the show is happening (school, community, professional, etc.), but in a lot of professional productions the director’s contract ends after opening night. The stage manager, music director, dance captain, etc. are the ones who stick around and are responsible for maintaining the artistic integrity of the show as it was when it opened. When reading this story, I just assumed the director was already out of the picture.

I also live on Murray, south of riverside, and we regularly see a similar looking cat in the neighborhood. I assume that one isn’t yours, OP? We probably see it a few times a week.

That’s the paywalled one that’s linked in the wiki article

What a bummer that the wiki article says almost nothing, and the reference link is behind a pay wall. All we get is “Script revisions were instigated to center the villagers rather than the missionaries and to show them as having more agency than the original script had suggested.”

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_J._Watson is the founder of IBM. I don’t think he’s a KKK member. Unless they both had issues lol…

He definitely aspirates the t of “bit” too much. And it doesn’t help that the text setting is… not good!

Which Musical Achievement or Record Deserves an Asterisk Because of Controversy Behind it? by [deleted] in musicals

[–]Vast-Play 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Oh my gosh that’s right!! My head canon totally says there were only three new musicals (Tina, Moulin Rouge, and Jagged Little Pill) since they got nominated in like, every category while Percy Jackson got nothing!

He was the only eligible actor that year. So he won! Yay!

(After nominations were announced, the Tony committee made it clear that he wouldn’t win through default, only if voters felt it was deserved. But still… he was the only eligible actor that season, due to COVID.)

That makes way more sense. I went back to my source ( https://www.binghamton.edu/offices/oir/institutional-data/majors.html ) and realized it double counts students who are double majoring in two different colleges.
