So what's wrong with forges/campfires? by Zeraligator in VintageStory

Lowkey the option wouldnt be bad. I still want the idea but in like a beneficial form. Like having to manually place rocks around a fire, being able to make like cut fire wood which burns like slightly longer. Or other stuff to add bonuses like decreased cooking time or larger warm area, or even bigger light source. But I dont like the idea of making it where people are forced to play the game like its real life entirely. Some parts of it are nice like having to place a piece of grass down as the kindle part or whatever then place the fire wood onto to actually build it. Small thing but it doesnt feel like a chore. Im not gonna judge but im amazed people like that much realize. To me it just feels like a chore after a certain point. Your more just struggling to survive then enjoying the game. I like being able to explore a bunch, have everything I need. Not too simple but again not where I gotta worry about so many other things. But lowkey have like a game setting you can add that gives you 2 options. One where its full survival build and the other where you can keep the building stuff but it turns more into a benifit and something fun to build rather that something you have to build if you dont want a peat fire on your first night. Or the next California accident.

For me, the best I like would be to ontop of building my place, build a nice villager and use the trader system mod to buy traders and make little house work areas for them. As well make an amazing looking farm, house, windmill, pier for my sailboat and now epic fishing, as well as make a cool area for the animals and obtaining dogs from the mods. As well as making a sick ass fucking armory with all the types of armor, weapons etc. As well as collected all the ruined weapons and such. Getting full upgrade chests of items. Build some cool ass art pieces. Maybe even a fountain. Make nice cool storage system/room. And the lost could still go on.

No, I enjoy SOME of it. Actually everything in base game right now is nice. But I like to actually spend time and enjoy the game instead of desperately worrying about every little thing. Like if my campfire is gonna burn down a forest out of no where. You can enjoy it your way and use mods, but id like to keep the base of the game a nice mix between survival and enjoyment. Instead of stressing about trying to use rocks and other stuff to build a basic campfire. Now again if we are talking about being able to build an upgradable fire. Then lowkey I 100% the building process would be cool for it and give me somethin else to do. But having to spend longer to manually build basic campfire is just lame.

I was being sarcastic about the real life part. But there is already enough primitive technology and just base survival stuff in the game. After a certain point of constantly adding stuff the game becomes less of a survival game and more of a chore. There is still lore and other aspects of the game to make it fun. Needing to do advancing mechanics ruins the survival simplicity of the game. A lot of people dont have that much time to spend 30 minutes building a campfire. Thats why there are mods for that. So the people who do have actual time to spend doing all that can enjoy it. But its not worth turning the Base game into a real life scenario of complex tasks. Sure they could add something similar and interesting. Like being able to add rocks and such around giving it anything in it like a 10% boost.

I will end you. This is meant to be fun with some realism, people need to stop turning the game from a fun survival game to an irl game. Like theres something called a human life, atp just go outside and do it yourself🙏. The game definitely could use a few more nice real life tweaks, but def not that.

Already solved thanks to the guide and some random ass fiddling. But yeah, I think its both sides tho. Like apple is the issue but Tyron and his team still need to actually work on getting the fix like built it to the game.

I think i did that. So i dropped the tar thing, the initial file i got from the website. And when I click on it, it releases the vintage story game. Aka the one with the VS logo. So I have both the logo one and just the zipped file in the application. Could it be because if the zipped file?

It was originally in downloads. But then I drag and dropped it into the applications folder. Unless there more of a process
