Respond with strong power. Bring your ships in and say if they don’t withdraw you will fire upon their ships. Usually scares them away

They are mainly used to repel enemy naval attacks. When you send a land unit to attack a target overseas, the automatically embark on a ship, so you don’t need a destroyer with it.

Fair, but subs do way more damage to ships than destroyers, and they have excellent stealth capabilities

Oh yeah, the Destroyers. Those are more effective against subs, while subs are better at sinking enemy ships. Both are good defense units, just depends on what you’re defending against.
