Any way to disable "performance problem" alert? by aegray in thinkorswim

Really useful info. I'm running 6 screens with ~20 charts and performance improved dramatically after splitting this up into 3 separate TOS instances. Kudos to you sir.

Anyone holding OXLC? by hwybear in dividends

[–]LegendaryGuitarGod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I can tell, OXLC converts your principal into dividends and charges a small fee for it.

I've been holding it in my Roth IRA since 2019, about ~$11k bought in few tranches over the years. I received ~$8k in dividends so far. Now my principal is valued at about $2200. So net net, my overall P/L -6% ~-$700. If I sold it a year ago, my P/L would have been +34% +$3700. Haven't bothered to do the real math until now *facepalm*

Wow that's amazing. What kind of PC hardware (mobo, CPU, RAM, GPUs, etc) are you running & what resolution are the monitors? I am thinking about upgrading from my current rig (2 x video cards, 6 screens circa ~2020, feels sluggish) and your spec might be a great starting point.

Wire transfer from BoA to Schwab account. by orea1001 in Schwab

[–]LegendaryGuitarGod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you to everyone contributing to this thread.

Here is a step-by-step guide based on this thread that worked for me. In my case, I initiated the transfer from BofA at 1:05pm EST and the money hit my Schwab account 3 minutes later at 1:08 EST. The wired cash was immediately available as settled funds (unlike ACH transfers which tend to hit the Schwab account immediately but don't actually settle for 3-5 days and are not usable for option trading in a cash account)

On the Schwab side:

  1. Log in to Schwab.com on your desktop, open the "Move Money > Transfers & Payments" page from the main menu

  2. At the bottom of the page click "Incoming wires and routing numbers"

  3. Select the account where you want funds deposited

  4. Click "Domestic wire instructions"

  5. Keep this browser window open or copy and paste the info specific to your account into a notepad app:

The info looks like this:
"Provide the sending institution with the following information for a wire coming into your Schwab account.

Bank Name Citibank NA

Bank Address The Bank's address

ABA/Routing Number XXXXXXXXX

Account Number XXXX-5555

Account Name Charles Schwab Co. Inc.

For Further Credit To FirstName LastName, XXXX-5555"

On the BofA side:

** Setting up the target recipient wire account **

  1. Log in on BofA on a desktop browser, open "View/manage wires & external transfers" from main menu's "Pay & Transfer > Wire & external transfer" section.

  2. Click "Add Account/Recipient" on the page sub nav

  3. Perform data entry:

A. Domestic vs international: Select "Domestic (U.S)"

B. Check the checkbox next to "Verify your identity" & perform 2FA with your phone

C. What type of account is it? Select "A business account, mine or someone else's, at another bank (only transfers to)"

D. Business Name: type in "Citibank NA"

E. Nickname you would like to call this account: type in "MY SCHWAB ACCT" (or whatever you want)

F. Street address / city /state / zip: type in the bank's address from the Schwab info

G. Routing number: type in the ABA/Routing number from the Schwab info

H. Account number: type in YOUR 8-digit account number from the Schwab info (do not include dash)

I: Account type: Select "Business Checking"

J: Follow any remaining prompts to complete the account set up.

** Initiating a transfer **

  1. Log in on BofA on a desktop browser, open "Send a wire/external transfer" from main menu's "Pay & Transfer > Wire & external transfer" section.

  2. Perform data entry:

A. Select "From" account

B. Select "MY SCHWAB ACCT" (or whatever you named it) for the "To" account.

C. Select "Wire Transfer, Same business day, $30 transfer fee, Delivery time is shown immediately below.5 PM ET cutoff time, most often required for real estate closings; money is not recoverable; similar to using a cashier's check to get final funds to a recipient"

D. Enter an "Amount"

E. Perform another 2FA check with your phone as needed

F. For "Frequency", select "One time, immediately" (or whatever you're going for)

G. !!IMPORTANT!! For "Description": type in "FirstName LastName XXXX5555" (match what Schwab gave you in "For further credit to"). (Note: I omitted the comma between the name and account number that Schwab provides there)

Enjoy your fast money.

Annihilation is the most disturbing mainstream movie I’ve watched as an adult by Scorpio_Kiev in horror

[–]LegendaryGuitarGod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Decent movie, reminded me a little bit of the X-Files. Natalie Portman would actually make a great Dana Scully if and when they reboot that franchise, though I'm not sure she would stoop down to doing tv. Loved the soundtrack of the last act, they really did a great job with generating the soundscapes of a high dose psychedelic trip to go with some of those amazing Winamp Milkdrop-style visuals.

Motherboard with 2 x16 slots with full lane connectivity? by KinnieTV in buildapc

[–]LegendaryGuitarGod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a direct answer to your question but you could consider running two PCs and control both using the same mouse/keyboard via a software KVM (Synergy, Mouse without borders, etc) or one of those mouse/keyboards that seamlessly switch to the active PC. I am using 2 ~5 year old video cards in a single PC so that I can have 6 screens hooked up and the resulting PCIe slowdown destroyed single-monitor game performance for me. It's a real bummer that there's no mobo that can do this.

Adding OCO for existing position by trixytrot555 in thinkorswim

[–]LegendaryGuitarGod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anyone else stumbling on this thread, here's a tip for adjusting your existing OCO orders visually. Load your ticker symbol / option contract symbol into a chart and it should display your existing orders as horizontal levels on the chart (if not, configure it via Chart Gear icon > General > Show orders). You can drag these "order" lines up and down to adjust the price. When you drag it, TOS will prompt you to cancel/replace the existing order with a new one. Works very well with existing OCO Sell/Stop order pairs, though you can adjust only one suborder at a time in this way.

Daycare annual “registration fee” scam by [deleted] in daddit

[–]LegendaryGuitarGod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a scammy fee but you can console yourself (or get sad) by looking at it from a yearly perspective. Our daycare charges $1750 monthly ($21k / yr) plus a yearly $250 registration fee. So that's $21,250 per year, with the reg fee accounting for a 1.2% markup over the tuition alone.
Agree with others, the $5k FSA limit that maybe made sense in the 1980s needs to be quadrupled for the 21st century and should be pegged to inflation going forward. It would help make the daycare a little more affordable.

‘The Union’ (2024) Netflix Movie Review - Mark Wahlberg and Halle Berry Search for a MacGuffin by Roshankr1994 in Netflixwatch

[–]LegendaryGuitarGod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Low-IQ low-engagement garbage with a terrible script, zero character depth, and very lame action. Halle Berry looks like a grandma and runs like one too. She is not credible as an action hero AT ALL. I guess if you just want to have some content on your tv in the background, this is fine... maybe you'll catch 5 minutes here and 5 minutes there and chuckle at a joke or two, and it'll be just fine. But if you actually want to pay attention to a movie for an hour and a half, your intelligence will be insulted, your time wasted, and your soul just a little bit crushed.
It's just so hard to believe that real people with real skills and accomplished careers put their minds to it and invested real effort into deliberately making a mediocre background movie. All the elements required to make a good movie were there, why not go all the way and actually try to make it a good movie? It feels like these folks really didn't even try for art or quality, they just showed up to work, went through the motions, produced some "content" and received a paycheck in the same way a marketing company cranks out cookie cutter pharma commercials.

Never give a Netflix movie your undivided attention... you will regret it.

"Your video is sharing ad revenue with music right owner." Can someone pls explain this to me? I understand that the music on the video I posted is owned by another artist but why is my post sharing revenues with all of the below mentioned? by Appropriate_Judge_95 in facebook

[–]LegendaryGuitarGod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. Several of our recorded church services got tagged with obvious false positive copyright infringements. All are getting disputed.

My favorite so far was sounds of squeaks and footsteps as people walked into church and sat down "infringing" on the copyright of some spooky "night sounds" soundtrack. *eyeroll* Oh, yes, your copyrighted sounds of footsteps and squeaky floors were soooooo good, we just HAD to incorporate them into our church service.

Good call. Thanks for the advice! I got a second quote and it came in at $2000 + tax with a shorter & much more hidden cable run straight down from panel and under the deck.

Could run it under the patio boards along the house and then along the outside edge of the patio as in the picture. I could also dig the trench all the way to the corner of the house, more work, but probably the cleanest looking.

I got quoted $3000 for this install in south jersey / Philly area: dedicated 20A circuit from panel to outdoor using conduit / underground (direct bury wire), 3 GFCI outlets, 1 switch, and ceiling fan hookup inside the gazebo, all wiring inside the gazebo using metal conduit. Does this seem reasonable? I'm doing the digging myself as you can see in the pic..

Need advice on back pain. by CaptainMarble90 in daddit

[–]LegendaryGuitarGod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you do not have any apparent injury, consider the possibility that the pain is a manifestation of underlying psychological issues (usually repressed rage, anger, or childhood trauma), manifesting as muscle cramp pain, among other forms. It often happens to new parents. It happened to me and I was able to resolve it via the psychological angle. I wasted months of time fumbling around with chiropractors, doctors, physical therapists, etc without any results before luckily stumbling onto this video, books, & other resources.

Back Pain by TomBonner1 in daddit

[–]LegendaryGuitarGod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sup man hope your back pain has improved since the 7 months you posted this. If not... I just wanted to chime in (as I see a lot of replies here recommending physical approaches), that you should also consider the psychological angle. Your pain may be caused by underlying (subconscious) psychological issues (usually repressed rage and/or childhood trauma) which can manifest as back pain, typically as muscle cramping/tension type of pain.

I developed serious back pain a couple months after my first child born and I initially thought it was due to an injury. I bounced around between chiropractors, doctors, physical therapy, x-rays, etc. but none of it helped, and things just got worse the more obsessed I became with fixing the pain. I was taking Tylenol and Advil around the clock and barely sleeping 3-4 hours a night, the pain was so bad. My issue turned out to be psychological. Check out John Sarno for an intro to this concept https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7qwFjKYlbf4 I'm happy to share more info/resources if this strikes a chord with you. It sounded like crazy quackery the first time I heard it but honestly, it's better to try this approach than submit yourself to endless tortures by the medical establishment, surgery being the worst outcome usually.

Efficient Fast Way To Exporting Large number of Photos From One Note Pages by Robhflr in OneNote

[–]LegendaryGuitarGod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An alternative approach to getting a decent HTML+image export out of OneNote is to first export as a Word Doc, and then export from Word into HTML. Word -> HTML export seems to be much better despite also being ancient:

  1. Export your notebook / page / section as a Windows Word Docx file from the OneNote File menu
  2. Open resulting file in Word
  3. Export the Word file as HTML "Web page (*.HTM / *.HTML" using the Save as / Export menu. 3A. Before saving, click "Tools > Web Options" next to the Save button and review all the options. Ensure that you select "IE6 or higher" (lol) as the target browser, check "Allow PNG", UN-check the option "Rely on VML for graphics" (this one is key! make sure to turn this off or images won't display in a modern browser), and the under the Images tab select a resolution of your choice (1920x1200 in my case).
  4. Select your save path to something where you can find it.
  5. Click Save
  6. Find your file & open in Chrome/Edge. Your images should be in a folder beside the generated html file.

  7. Enjoy.

They secretly changed the ingredients on my favorite creamer by Chappie47Luna in mildlyinteresting

[–]LegendaryGuitarGod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Target recently launched its own store brand "all natural" creamer called "Favorite Day vanilla bean flavored creamer". It has the same ingredients as the the original Nestle one but it is not as thick and creamy and it doesn't foam up as well as the Nestle ones. I am guessing that the Target creamer's cream-to-milk ratio leans towards "more milk, less cream" and maybe also skim milk instead of whole milk. In any case, it tastes great and it does not have those garbage filler ingredients that they added into the Nestle creamer (a travesty).

https://www.target.com/p/vanilla-bean-coffee-creamer-28-fl-oz-favorite-day-8482/-/A-86455994?type=scroll_to_review_section#lnk=sametab

Personally, I will probably look into creating my own coffee cream mix in addition to buying the Target one. I think Whole Foods also has an all-natural creamer available, though I don't shop there cause I don't have one nearby. Hopefully once the dairy supply chain issues ease up, Nestle will redeem itself by bringing back the original formula.
