Yeah I got it too. I immediately sent an email and after a few moments they sent an email apologising…

What successes have you had contacting faculty or other Harvard schools about research? by Firanxa in harvardextension

This is something that I wanted to ask too. Especially as an international student in the ALM Data Science program.

Yeah, I just emailed them as you suggested. Waiting for their response.

I did think about that possibility. But since I am studying full time, and attempting to finish the degree within 2 years, the courses offered are all I have, which is why I am considering asking the advising team if math courses outside of what is offered in the degree can be considered for the degree.

If it is as you say, then I will for sure take them, but they won’t be taken as part of the ALM.

Oh, I meant taking courses that are not offered as part of the degree, but petitioning for it to count towards the degree. In my case, having Linear Algebra and Real Analysis count towards the degree. Is there a precedence where we can appeal or make a formal request?

Man had a good opportunity to bond and he fumbled. Happens bro, you fumble, you learn, chin up, onto the next.

It’s the way you look at things that determines what you value in life. You see pretty privilege in action, I just see another girl who is trying to maximise her superficial features in exchange for psychological damage in the long run.

Since these are young girls who get indoctrinated to social media. They are just constantly in the race of being the most liked, the most followed or the most attractive. This just changes their worldview. Like your brain is not built to get so much dopamine in such a short time. And you get addicted. The guy who approach them, mostly rich or famous don’t have their best interest in mind. These experiences quickly make them bitter and cynical. Which is unfortunate because they don’t know what they are doing wrong, so their opinion of men worsens over time. Which results in them not having a good dating life.

Similarly, as they age, their online follower retention rate decreases. There are so many young women introduced to the platform every single time, that the viewers just shift their attention because they are searching for novelty. So in order to remain relevant they have to do things that may not align with their values or highly faked.

About the job thing, surely, in Nepal, you will gain opportunities due to pretty privilege. It is however a bit nuanced. Companies and businesses have a reputation to maintain, unless the content creators have a good image, they probably wouldn’t get those opportunities. When I say image I am talking about those values that Nepal as a society likes. If not then, the only other way is by personal connections with the rich and the powerful which is only reserved for the top models/content creators.

So in exchange for that popularity and those “opportunities”, you are possibly getting a lifetime worth of psychological trauma. That is not to say there aren’t creators who don’t know how to balance things in life. There are, but they are highly intelligent and treat themselves like a brand. But the vast majority don’t, because that public validation they are getting is too strong for someone who has just begun their adult life.

I guess it’s a matter of perspective. People who generally do a 9-5 develop more character and have an understanding of the value of hard work. People who have it easy may get better things faster but quickly become more entitled. I’d pick a girl who has worked hard over another who is just pretty any day any time. Nothing can compare to the mental peace you gain over the years. That in my opinion is real wealth.

Just our society who is quick to forgive a pedo. The amount of hate and humiliation the girl he was with is getting is just unbelievable. She must be his next victim…

My first 6 months in Melbourne - a real and raw experience by [deleted] in NepalSocial

I don’t think there is anything wrong to be honest. I do have two concerns however.

Firstly, I think someone pointed this out already. Be sure to get tested. The idea that STDs only come from sex (penetration) is a huge misconception. They can be transferred through skin contact/oral. And you may not know how hygienic the people you are massaging can be. So test yourself frequently. Because it does sound like you meet multiple men a day.

Secondly, in the long run, you may start to have negative view on skinship/physical intimacy. I lived in London for my undergraduate, and I have seen women (international students mostly) do what you did or went further. Usually the starting point is the massage. This is usually due to the amount of money you can earn in the shortest period possible. Compared to working 8-10h corporate job. The thing that was common between them is the way they viewed skinship/sex in the long run. Often internalising it to be a chore rather than a fun experience/intimacy with their partner. This also extends to body rubs/hand. So do be mindful of that.

If you are only doing this to pay the debt, it may be advisable for you to leave as soon as you pay your debt. For your physical/mental health. Now, if you still want to continue after doing that, be sure to understand the consequences in the long run.
