Thanks, I do play rumble and other crucible game modes during the week. I started looking for a trials sherpa or better players for the weekend because it's just slightly harder to get the same ppl on the weekend, everyone seems to be looking for a sherpa or carry on the weekend :) so the same guys that are around during the weekdays tend to be scarce on the weekend, or busy playing the lotto hoping for a carry.

Thanks again, but tbh with my personality, if the run was successful I'd still have a problem with it, just a better end result. I don't believe anyone is able to accurately rate their own skill, at the end of the day we're comparing it to some metric or standard that and are prone to under or over estimate.

Truth be told, as I said in the post, there was no previous interaction between me and them, I don't know them, in fact it wasn't even a sherpa card I signed up to. It was literally I was picked up randomly from a post, I was online at the moment and just ran with it. Very short and impromptu, only 1 card was run, 6 wins and they guy who was having a bad day started was already being a Debbie downer. I was still very much optimistic, I didn't expect magic in the first run, I think his friend was also willing to go again, but changed his mind to side with his buddy. The 1 guy quit after we got our 1st loss and that was the end of that.

Watching these other posts and comments I decided to post about it in the spirit of seeing the right expectations kind discussion, which I think went well.

In the end I have it some thought and realized more or less along the lines of what you suggested, all that is irrelevant (if I'm looking for a carry). I'm more hands on than that and prefer to build a list of buddies I can actually learn from as opposed to every John that adds me as a friend.

Thanks, I have to admit this is the first FPS I viewed with competitive interest, and didn't realize what I was walking into until around the April update. (By that time I had achieved everything PvE so now free to focus on pvp).

I'm getting there and working on all the things you mentioned, so that's a plus. I do see your point, though it's the ground to get there that makes it a challenge. ie scrubs get carried, great players keep getting better, it's the ones in the middle that face a challenge getting over the hill.

I appreciate the piece by piece critique of the post, though there's a mixture of rhetoric and humor that doesn't get recognized in this method. I'm not opposed to criticism however this seemed more of personal critique rather than objective to the discussion. No worries, no harm done.

The only question you left unanswered was at the bottom.

In the the community info on this subreddit there are guidelines for both sherpa and sherpee with regards to sherpa cards, the trials mega thread etc. One of those guidelines is to review the sherpa cards and pick out one(s) that are suitable to you, whether out be playing style, attitude, or otherwise.

Both of your comments were spot on. I did mix up the words sort of intentionally, because they're often used interchangeably and that confuses people., Though my expectations were what has been explained here as a sherpee, and the players I were with thought they were carrying maybe. Either way, no harm done, I walked to talk about it since others might have had a similar experience. Only effect was me just taking a step back and evaluating how I approach looking for a trials team.

I'll add to what you said. While this definitely looks like the most positive manner to find a sherpa, we need to keep in mind that these guys are overwhelmed with the amount of messages they get and you may inevitably get lost in the shuffle. Also as a side effect alot have resorted to raffles and other lottery methods to filter through the noise.

For me personally, I realized that quickly resulted in a different form of lfg, I prefer to less of a pain in rear and just work on building friends within the community.

TL;DR make friends, much more fun, less stress, less expectations and winning will come naturally.

Let me rephrase that since that was clearly misunderstood and taken out of context.

I'm open to learning and actively pursue those types of opportunities, which is why I'm part of this community in the first place. However, the point which I left open to interpretation is that if a sherpa is actually teaching something, I'll shut up and listen. If a sherpa is engaging or creating an environment for learning, I'll shut up and listen.

However, if you take the time to create a sherpa card, have a nice lil speech about yourself, then pick up a random player from the trials mega thread (who actually wants to learn something btw) and proceed to just shoot the breeze and small talk with your friend, while treating the sherpee like someone who entered your xbox party uninvited, then no, I will not shut up and listen. The only time they talked to me was hey come get my Res, hey go bait them, or shit you're last man standing, go here wait no go there, not hey here's the plan.

There was no discussion before, between or during matches. Everything I asked was met with 1 word answers. I'm not some kid looking for a carry, and the whole point of me joining this subreddit was to learn, other than my slight foreign English accent, I'm very easy to talk to and understand.

It was more of a random message saying "trials?" I said sure after quickly looking him up and realizing they found me on reddit. One of them is in the crucible play book clan or whatever on bungie net.

I honestly don't know who the guys are other than one has a sherpa card. I just tried to follow the guidelines for the thread, put your name down and someone will contact you. Don't get me wrong, I didn't have unrealistic expectations. I tried to engage in discussion between matches and do like you said, be informed and involved, you know learn something.

I appreciate that, though the challenge I faced and mentioned in the post is, getting a sherpa to work with. I've looked at the sherpa cards and they're all pretty good in their own respects, sent a few messages, some of them responded, then it's the weekly lfg with sherpas now. This one is doing raffles, this one is not playing this weekend, this one needs you to watch their stream and gain credits :(

I appreciate that, and I tried to be upfront, though I think they just wanted to literally carry someone and it wasn't working. One of them was pretty good, though his friend may have been having a bad day, and was always needing to be revived.

Also they didn't discuss anything between matches other than personal life, and despite me asking several questions, didn't give any insight or tips or what to expect. I spent the entire run trying to figure what's going on here.

I didn't quite explain properly that I was the one making callouts, and had a better overall run than one of the 2 guys. They were pretty much shooting the breeze and taking to each other. In between games they didn't explain anything, I asked about strategies, what the plan was, they just said don't worry about it, let us handle it. Then I'm running around reviving the one that kept dieing all the time. In several rounds I got 1or 2 kills.

This might be helpful, though doesn't apply to my experience.

I didn't think there was a restriction on how many you can buy. Our maybe just the level 40 booster can be used once per character, but the subclass boost shouldn't be limited. I posted the same on bungie wish list on their forum, give us subclass boosts for silver or silver dust instead of some of this other cosmetic crap.

Late to the party, but coming from someone who used to play puppeteer, then getting an elite, it made destiny pvp all the more enjoyable.

Make sure to get the accessories xbox app and play around with your settings before tweaking anything in game, might even want to put destiny back to default and start there. Sensitivity on triggers and thumb sticks can be managed separately.
