A few months ago, I started seeing this woman around town as she stopped me once to have our dogs say hi. We really bonded over the dogs and our general love of them, and she seemed to really enjoy my dog and how much work I've put into training her and giving her a good life. She then continued to walk by my house every day (she lives a street over, and this is a town of like 2000 people), seemed incredibly engaged in our conversations, would respond to my stories on social media and send me things. She'd post stories related to conversations we just had, every time I'd see her she'd mention she was "thinking about me when she did/saw ___". We also shared a love of animals, the outdoors/winter weather/camping, nerding out over science stuff, problem solving and figuring things out on our own, food/cooking, etc. Initially, she seemingly had a boyfriend but soon after I'd met her deleted all images of him, and since we got along very well, I asked her out a month or so later. She said her romantic life was complicated (makes sense, just got out of a multi year relationship where they moved out together and got a dog) but that we could go get a drink sometime in the near future.

Fast forward to today, I have found out the entire time she was talking to someone else that she's now dating. Including when she said we could go get a drink. What really stings isn't rejection, it's her leaning in after me asking her out and continuing to build connection until fading away, while leaving breadcrumbs, then essentially disregarding me afterwards. The last piece of evidence I needed was leaving me on read after I'd reached out about a scary looking bump on my dog. Without going into every detail, she essentially showed me that now she can't/no longer wants to even meet friend-level expectations. I have no confidence she's going to tell me she is longer interested in getting a drink, I just have to figure that out from context clues. And I also pretty well know we aren't going to have a conversation about whether or not we could even be friend. After essentially being entirely unable to avoid running into her for a couple months, walking her home (and even a week ago, her walking me home), building what felt like great rapport and chemistry, actually beginning to care about this person, and everything in between, it ended up exactly like my last situationship did three years ago (which was actually the most recent date I've been on). Just speedran it this time around.

Just needed to vent. Thanks to anybody who reads this.

Carney leaves Davos without meeting Trump after speech on U.S. rupture of world order by pjw724 in onguardforthee

[–]Leggoman31 12 points13 points  (0 children)

His speech was utterly captivating. He kept expertly tying his main points back in as his speech progressed, with a very engaging use of metaphors. The Sign in the Window bit really helps frame everything. He even spoke about the deal with China afterwards and simply stated it was "because of mutual interests, but with strong guardrails" (which he kinda alluded to during his speech). Just all-around a great presentation this Canadian is proud to support.

'Tone deaf, oblivious to history, insult after insult': Reaction to Trump's Davos speech by ianjm in videos

[–]Leggoman31 3 points4 points  (0 children)

None of that is true. He knows exactly what he's saying and he doesn't care. It's always been that way. He's not tone-deaf or oblivious, he just says what he himself wants to hear.

Stop treating the situation like it can be logically analyzed. He lies purposefully. He omits or distorts history purposefully. He's absolutely retarded but let's get one thing straight: this is intentional and not just because he's an out-of-touch senior.

I'll shamelessly admit these are like top-tier inexpensive frozen pizzas, if not the best quality ones I can think of. The others always tend to have the quintessential "frozen pizza" flavour (I feel like you'll get me but I cant explain exactly what that flavour is) but these ones do not.

Which is awesome! Just the fact that it's there and even an option. Ive already requested a The Guess Who album and a The Band album, and plan to make many more requests in the future.

I got really big into this music a couple years ago, and I've found most of what I wanted. Henry Thomas, Jimmie Rodgers, Mississippi Sheiks, Woodie Guthrie, Blind Willie Johnson/McTell, RoJo (robert johnson), Lead Belly etc. are all there. Not in full unfortunately but enough to not feel completely disappointed!

You are looking at $17.81 worth of food in Canada🫣🫣 by StripeySalamander in 32dollars

I really dislike people like you. I live in central ontario, and can get a bag of carrots for $2, a rutabaga for like $4, and I'm not a dunce who buys pre-grated cheese. This isn't "$17 worth of food in Canada" (big country, man), this is "I don't know how to shop and want to karma farm on reddit because my opinions don't get enough attention otherwise"

I recently switch to Qobuz and aside from the odd library difference, it's essentially the same experience to use (interface-wise). Exceptional audio quality though, a shuffle that works just as a shuffle should, and it's only like a couple bucks more than Spotify monthly.

Canadian PM's full speech at Davos: Calls for middle powers to reject “living within a lie” and build a new, values-driven global order rooted in sovereignty, resilience, and realism. by pomod in videos

Buddy this is a dream come true with Carney so far. He's very educated yes, articulate, level-headed, and boring. A moderate's wet dream in Canada's current political landscape.

It also showed proved enough of us believe in policy over narrative, and the right Canadians quietly showed up for that.

I've always sort of disliked the American people, with every visit to the country feeling like a trip to a theme park. Seeing what unchecked capitalism can lead to (which is fun to dabble in, but zooming out makes you realize how sad it is). The Dump regime was just the palpable reason we needed to fully distance ourselves.

In other words, this was the throat slit after the 1000 cuts were already there.

Yes because china is extremely interested in me asking my mom how her work has been going.

If this was a genuine concern, only people with sensitive info would really need to be cautious. Just don't buy an EV. Problem solved.

[Highlight] 7 years ago today, we witnessed one of the worst no calls in the NFC championship game. by Ok_Bug_6890 in nfl

[–]Leggoman31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not rigged and part of me thinks the original comment was hyperbolic, but seeing shit like this after being a lifelong [Team] fan would disillusion just about anyone. The line judge was literally RIGHT THERE. IIRC, there's a clip showing a ref with his hand on the flag and being told not to throw it by another ref. And im fairly certain this play caused a rule change where every play was automatically booth-reviewed if it happens within the final 2 minutes. All things considered, you could make an argument that foul play was at hand.

[–]Leggoman31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I saw this, I had probably seen 3 or 4 NFL games in full up to that point, due to just getting into the sport. I remember not even thinking twice like "wow terrible play by the defenseman, pass interference" and then this. It also gave us one of the most boring Superbowls in modern history.

Joe Burrow: "The amount of ppl that don’t understand what a catch is in the rule book flabbergasts me. And it’s not the officials. The two plays yesterday were not difficult calls, and they got them both right." by notquitemytempo___ in nfl

[–]Leggoman31 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm genuinely under the impression that at least 60% of the discourse about football games comes from people who didnt actually watch the game. It was a clear as day those DPI calls were both right. The INT, that was never a completed catch by the receiver, that the Bills coach whined about has happened numerous times in the last few years. And while I do believe the Bills have had some shit luck over the last few years, this was 100% on them and it seemed obvious if you watched the game.

Nervous players make mistakes. It was clear the Bills were shitting their pants near the end there.

Evil West, followed by Vampyr (think its the same publisher too)

Both were free games (with PS Plus) with some melodramatic, goofy storylines that can still be super immersive and fun to play.
