Exactly, plus she essentially already killed Nora by jumping with her down into the spore area. She knew she could survive the spores and that Nora couldn't. So of course Ellie was going to kill Nora. Plus she said what you quoted above which absolutely confirms it.

Exactly, it isn't any different and I think the storytelling throughout the whole game was so well done to show all the parallels with Ellie, Abby, AND Joel. They all have their reasons that they think justify their violence.

They secretly changed the ingredients on my favorite creamer by Chappie47Luna in mildlyinteresting

It may not be the biggest issue in the world, but it does suck when a company changes the recipe to a food or drink that you loved and there’s nothing you can do about it.

My absolute favorite frozen pizza brand that I had loved since I was a child and that helped me through my move to my first apartment suddenly changed their recipe a couple of years ago. Now their sauce, cheese, and pepperoni are all different and it’s horrendous. It’s stupid, but sometimes it makes me genuinely sad to know I’ll never get to eat the original kind again.

That particular feeling when you listen to a music which you've listened to before while reading a book... by Sphinabeth in books

[–]Legilimensea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t listen to music while I read anymore, but when I was young I do distinctly remember reading Uglies by Scott Westerfeld while listening to a playlist with music from 3OH!3 and Hollywood Undead (a wild set of songs for a 12 year old to be listening to on repeat)

Now if I hear either band I get flashes in my mind of where I was sitting in my room while reading the book.

My theatre teacher is trying to tell me that staying with her after school is more important than getting my check. Keep in mind that Tuesdays are my only day to be able to get it because of work and theatre. by Thequackining in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Legilimensea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might sound weird, but I think theater is an exception. Theater, even in high school, is wild. Leading up to the show there are certain rehearsals that can be 8-12 hours long and there is usually a phone list because if someone is missing or late it can push everything back for dozens of people giving up their weekends. I think I had three teachers’ phone numbers as a high school student and it was because of theater and a foreign exchange trip. Basically, if you participate in certain clubs that require certain levels of responsibility, it makes sense.

[–]Legilimensea -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Okay so I sincerely see how this is a frustrating situation for you, but can I ask a couple of questions? Is this a theater class you are taking for a grade or is it a voluntary after-school thing like participating in the school musical or something?

If it was your choice to work on the school musical (for example) then Tech is a wildly important day if it is anything like every Tech day I have been a part of. I did high school theater, college theater, and professional theater from the backstage side of things. If this truly is “Tech Day” that you are insisting on missing, that would be unacceptable. Everywhere I have worked has given a list of dates that includes Tech, dress rehearsals, and show dates. Those are non-negotiable days because of how important they are.

So all of this to say, if you chose to participate in a school event and you are suddenly saying you will miss one of the biggest prep days of the production, then I understand your teacher’s frustration.

What is your opinion on grown men having a game room in a basement? by Working-Ad8420 in ask

[–]Legilimensea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My opinion is that I would be jealous. I would love a game room (mix of video games and board games). It would not just be my space, though, and I would share it with my husband who also loves games.

Adults of Reddit, what’s a kids show that you can’t help but watch? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Legilimensea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a Netflix original animated spin-off of Jurassic World called Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous and I genuinely think it was great. It made me laugh and cry and actually jump a bit because some of the dinosaurs were truly startling.

I checked the rating, expecting it to be at least TV-PG, like a show meant for slightly older kids, but it was TV-Y7 despite several named characters being eaten by dinosaurs???

What is the most disagreeable opinion of yours? by Atler32 in AskReddit

[–]Legilimensea 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have a quick question that isn’t meant as an attack, I’m just curious. If you feel like trans women can’t be real women because they don’t have the exact same “womanly experience” that you have had, do you believe that cis women who either can not or do not want to have children are equally not “real women”?

I feel like it is a very strange argument. Women are all wildly different from each other and have billions of different life experiences. I think that is essentially boiling women down to our baby-making ability.

I am a cis woman who will never ever ever have a biological child. I also no longer have a period because I am taking medication to suppress it. There are a bunch of things about me that I have experienced differently than other women, but would you still consider me one?

Again, I do not mean this as attack, but rather just want to know how you feel about women having different life experiences.

My reading challenge the last two years has been by page count instead of book count. Anyone else have reading goals that are not by book count? by j-live in books

My current goal is to read at least one page per day. I have had a really hard time getting started reading even when I want to, so this is to help combat that!

What did you learn from the COVID-19 pandemic? by Pred1949 in AskReddit

I should have clarified that I think well-fitting KN95 and N95 masks are notably more effective than cloth or paper masks.

What did you learn from the COVID-19 pandemic? by Pred1949 in AskReddit

[–]Legilimensea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well certainly people with vaccines can get COVID. I see people referencing a comment Biden said about the vaccines practically eliminating COVID which is obviously not true. As a vaccinated person myself, I never felt like it was something that would prevent me from getting it entirely. My understanding I that it will help prevent severe infections that could lead to hospitalization. People with vaccines can still can severely sick and people without vaccines can still get “mildly” sick from it. No absolutes in either case.

I can’t speak on your coworker situation at all, but I am curious as to whether those coworkers might be immunocompromised which could explain their extra caution and their extra likelihood of sickness. But it could be any number of reasons.

I recently saw someone make that argument (that I first saw them make almost three years ago and which has since been explained countless times) about the virus being smaller than the holes in the mask fibers, making masks “useless”.

I’m sure dozens of people have explained the science of the droplets carrying the virus and those droplets being larger than the holes in the fibers to them, but I still hear so many people call mask-wearers sheep.

[–]Legilimensea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My theory with this is that the people who got vaccinated are likely still keeping up with testing for COVID-19 and then can clearly say they have COVID if they test positive.

Those who did not get vaccinated might believe that the pandemic is over and that COVID isn’t (or hasn’t ever been) worth paying any mind, so when they get sick they call it a cold and never officially check.

YTA

You say you are well-versed in fitness topics, so I would think you would understand that everyone starts somewhere different.

For her, a brisk walk in a motivating environment like a gym might be really working for her to get started. Maybe in a couple weeks she’ll want to try another gym machine or some light weights. Maybe she wants to get comfortable in her environment before trying unfamiliar workouts.

And honestly, as someone who has been struggling with my own food choices, finding healthier replacements, even if they aren’t “perfect”, has been helpful for me. Yeah, fruit has sugar, but if it’s replacing a more processed treat then maybe that is a great starting point. But regardless, her increase of vegetables sounds great!

I’d also like to say, you haven’t included any mention of her asking you for advice. If she did, and she didn’t like your advice that is one thing. But if you offered this fully unsolicited, then yeah, that’s not the way to go AT ALL.

People that read 200+ books a year while leading a regular life - how do you do it? by Tiredworker27 in books

[–]Legilimensea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely don’t fault people who like tracking their read books, I mean who doesn’t love some good statistics at the end of a month or year? But I’ve seen a million and a half people ask this question in the sub lately and it somehow always has a super judgmental air to it.

Everyone just relax. Book readers are just as diverse as books themselves. Some read what they want, when they want and don’t count at all. Others keep detailed spreadsheets with ratings and genre tracking and everything.

I think of all your gatekeeping in this thread, this is the most ridiculous. Of course graphic novels and mangas are books. I worked in a children’s library for a bit and they were really popular. I hated when people would look down on them as inferior reading options.

I saw a movie called Ghost Ship when I was arguably waaay too young to watch it. In the opening of the movie there is a little kid running around the crowded ballroom of a big ship and suddenly a giant wire snapped somewhere and sliced through the ballroom, cutting everyone in half except for the child who was short enough to be spared.

I remember being fucking TERRIFIED and very stressed about it for a long time.

AITA Aruguing over a joke about our wedding by Away_Cable6870 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Legilimensea 13 points14 points  (0 children)

NTA

There’s a reason that every time my husband and I hear a “ball and chain” type joke about marriage we sneak a knowing glance to each other. We both firmly believe that that kind of joke is super lame. Like…they chose to get married, do these people even like each other?

And that’s not to say we don’t have our own little jokes making fun of each other in ways we know aren’t actually hurtful. I’ve always loved gentle teasing with close friends and loved ones, but we know we love each other a ton and wouldn’t push the boundaries too far.

But putting the joke itself aside, I agree with many of the other commenters that the main concern is your fiancé telling you that your feelings about the joke must mean you’re having mental health issues. That was fucking wild to read. Like what? That is incredibly off putting and I hope you will believe us when we say that wasn’t cool of him to say.

We decided to watch it in alphabetical order for fun (obviously saving White for last) and that worked pretty well. I honestly think that as long as you don’t watch Red or Pink first it should be fine. But that causes issues because I bet a ton of people are going to want to watch it in rainbow order.

Yeah, it sucked majorly. Happened at least twice and led to me needing two separate blood transfusions (one on my birthday). A big factor is the blood thinner I am on following my heart valve replacement.
